Been in contact with DHL. They will not ship matches "as they are classified as dangerous goods due to being extremely flammable".

I totally agree, and of course there's always the 'what if' factor when your ipad's not working because you can't recharge the sucker. But thought I would put it our there for folks.

Where There Is No Doctor (and its ilk) can be had as free PDF downloads. The SAS Survival Handbook is available as an iphone/ipad app (and I assume Android as well). Just FYI.

With a 2kg bag costing $1.79 (from memory) at Costco, I'm grabbing a bag each time I visit. Got 10kg to hand so far.

The other question is whether UPS or one of the courier companies would carry them. A decent bulk buy would be the most cost-effective way to do it to spread the shipping load.
The issue might be whether UPS/DHL/FedEx etc will carry them.

Looking forward to seeing your jerky walkthrough as this and dehydrating is something I really want to get into. Where are you guys getting your gear from for this?
My FAK is in pretty good nick and my wife's a nurse so I'm happy on that front, so comms is next on my list I think, and those Baofengs look the way to go.

Yeah I've been looking as well. There's a YouTube tutorial on how to make your own from regular safety matches but it seems a whole lot of hassle.

Brilliant info Rich. I'd love to get up and do this, but might be a bit far for comfort. But you are very right, it's easy to get caught up in all our stuff instead of focussing on the skills we might need. I'll certainly be keeping you guys in mind.

Not at the moment. Our previous host dropped the bundle big time and we're still working through getting a replacement site up and running.
