take broad photos mate, let us seagulls pick over it all. Really appreciate what you are doing by the way. OK here goes: We've actually got a range of prep-related books. I'll get a better pic next week. I'm working there all day on Tuesday so if people want me to look for anything I'll have plenty of time up my sleeve.

Grateful that the disposals store I 'help out' at has finally offered me some paid hours

Scoured our Costco today. Didn't see them. May have been a short term catalogue item.

Oh, another thing we have heaps of is hexamine stoves. Sounds like I need to go do a recon trip tomorrow and take a bunch of photos.

I'll have to see. They do come in occasionally, just not sure if there's one there right now.

FREDs I'm pretty sure we've got heaps of. I'll have to check prices. Not sure about aluminium canteens, but plenty of the green plastic ones in a couple of different styles, with or without cups and covers.
We've got heaps of camo uniform gear, and not just Aus, but some British, US etc.

It's a sad fact that old school disposals stores are few and far between these days. Shops where there's rows of old military gear at semi-reasonable prices seem to have gone the way of the dodo, but would be a prepared person's paradise one would think. I'm fortunate enough to help out at one, albeit on an ad hoc basis, doing some stock ordering (mostly knives) and occasionally in store sales as well, which I'm trying to get more of. Some will have seen the army mess tins (in the Sales area of this forum) which the boss has a stack of that he can't move, and would be happy to get anything he can for within reason. It got me thinking, what else would you guys look for in a shop like that? Chances are we have some in stock and maybe I can help APF members get their hands on some otherwise hard to find gear, without having to resort to outrageous ebay prices. So, what sort of stuff would you guys be keen to find in a shop like that? I can't make promises, but happy to help if I can.

Yeah good stuff. Thanks for posting. I may just have to print that out and file it away for future reference.

Not sure if anyone will find this item useful.. we recently bought a 40w solar panel from Aldi which I'm planning to put in our family BOB that goes into the car. Tested it to charge my ipad and LED worklight.. pretty decent. Tad hefty at 2.2kg.. but hey.. if the kids wanna play Plants vs Zombies when we're surviving or waiting for help.. they gotta learn to carry stuff. Not really planning to get an inverter for the car to power 230V products but think this would do well to charge our tablets and phones. They've still got a bunch of these at our local Aldi, but I'm hoping they will get marked down a bit at some point and then I might jump in for one.

A cheap multi-tool will let you down when you most need it to be reliable. Even the cheaper Leatherman models will be a better bet than some no name item. I have multiple Leatherman tools. My EDC is the Charge TTi (lower left), which I got a great price on from ebay in the US. My Wave (not pictured) lives in the ute. I have a Surge (top left) in the pouch of my main knife sheath. My 'cheap' backup is the Wingman (lower right), and these can be had from Masters (and Bunnings I think) for around $45. For a basic multi-tool it's very hard to go past. There are also smaller Leatherman models. I have the Juice S2 (orange) and Squirt PS4 (blue), and they are both great. The only other brands I would even give the time of day to are Gerber (one thing they do seem to do well is multi-tools) and SOG.

Just in case anyone is seriously wary about OpSec, your receipt contains the location of the store you shopped at. Rem, it took me less than a minute to pin yours down. I know most won't care and it's fairly general anyway, but thought it worth mentioning.

You can get military velcro patches that designate your blood group, NKA (No Known Allergies) etc, which might be handy. The patches are roughly 50x40mm and velcro on to your pack or uniform. Just a thought.

This sounds great! I haven't been happy with any of the backpacks I have, and I was thinking there's a serious lack of decent backpacks for preparedness that don't LOOK like a prepper pack. I'll get to thinking about the features I'd like. It'd be cool if we could come up with a design that suits a few of us to make production a little easier for you. Agreed, if one particular design ticks most of the boxes, I'd certainly be in for one (or maybe more).

Molle compatibility would be a plus as that expands the options for the end user
