the thing that worries me is, it has no cure, to treatment, and if you catch it 70% chance of dying. God help us all if it gets past the current useless mob who are suppose to be in charge. Because after all, climate change is more important than that silly little cold thingymagig.

Ok, looking where to get sharpening equipment for knives, machetes, axes etc? Anyone got ideas, and prices if possible.
It has been a long time since I had to look into these areas, so I thought I would save time and energy and simply ask. Yes, yes, I know, amazing, a male actually asking directions without being hopelessly lost first LOL.

What I want to know is, is this Australian, or is it a yank mag. only reason I ask is, it is hard to import some items from OS, especially knives and the such like, but if it has Aussie distributors that sounds good.

The cheapest one I could find was from www.homecare.com.au$52.00 They get really exy from there, and I am talking $100 - $200. My wife and I timed ourselves today, it took 1 hour to make 50 bricks, and that is with my limited movement.

Hi guys, Ausprep has asked if I could do a post on making fire bricks from waste paper, so here goes.
Thoughts behind making fire bricks. Almost all of us get junk mail, local paper, brochures etc in the mailbox almost every day, we also go through paper in our printers used notebooks etc. You can either through this in the bin (bad for landfill), use it in your garden beds (how often to you make a new bed), or you can chuck it in the fireplace, bit of a waste really. Or you can make firebricks.
Now fire bricks will not replace timber in your stove completely, but it will reduce the amount of timber you need, thus you recycle and reduce your fuel needs.
Some stats that we have noticed when using fire bricks: One brick will burn from between 40 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your vent levels. You can cut your timber usage down by aprox 50% For a 4 month winter where the temp gets to about 0 to -5 deg celcius we have worked out we will use about 300 bricks and just under 1 tonne of wood. Will update after winter of 2015.
What you need to get going:
Paper: Type of paper to use, newspapers, printer paper, non waxed sales brochures, cardboard. Type of paper to not use, high gloss papers (really shiny ones, and slippery). The reason for this is, the ink and chemicals used in their production have chemicals that are deadly, especially if you are using them for an indoor setting, such as fireplace, slow combustion stove. Do not put plastics, packing style tape.
Briquette maker: Where to buy a briquette mould: Check out ebay, although the postage is through the roof. If you live in sunny down under, the cheapest one I have found comes from homecare.com.au and search for "briquette maker" should come right up, they are $52.00 AUD from there.
Barrel: I was lucky enough to have a farmer friend, who gave me a 200 litre plastic barrel that had held molasses, so I did not have to worry about nasty chemicals. Make sure you know what the barrel has held. I cut mine in half in the middle, not end to end, this gives me two half barrels which makes 50 bricks each load.
Paint stirrer and electric drill.
Ok now onto the method I use:
About once a week, we take all our waste paper, tear it into chunky pieces, and keep them in garbage bags, about 5 kitchen bin bags fills half a drum, or there about. Once we have enough for half a bin, we fill the bin with paper, (fill it right to the top, as the paper drops down a bit when water is added). pour water in until the paper is covered.
After 2 days, I use a paint stirrer in my electric drill, put it on high, stick it in and pull the trigger. This is absolutely brilliant for breaking the paper down to a pulp. It is now ready to put into moulds. We have worked out that 2 days is optimal, any longer and the pulp gets pushed out of the mould.
Fill the mould up with the paper pulp, put the top on and gently stand on it, don't bother using the handles, 1. they make your hands sore after about 10 minutes, two, standing on it is better exercise.
Take the mould out of the former, tip it out onto a tarp, definitely in the sun, let it dry for a few days, until it has hardened a bit, enough to pick up without it falling apart. put them in your shed, or somewhere out of the road, that is out of the weather, especially away from where it can get wet.
Drying time, depends on, humidity, temperature, time of year.
Obviously the best time to start making briquettes is during summer, winter increases the time hugely, about 6 weeks, summer is about 3.
Feel free to ask questions, or add any points that I have missed.

I think our worst case would be a change in a virus or bacterial disease, one that causes the victim to bite others, or otherwise transfer the disease to healthy people, through body fluids, or if it became air borne.
a hard bug in location, with the ability to filter air, and create a positive atmosphere inside is probably the best bet in that scenario.
Time to talk to my boilermaker mate for solid metal doors I think.

the really enraging thing about this, is it had to be done, because the lefty/commie/radical alanski-ites would broadcast state secrets deliberately to make a conservative govt look bad so they can get their commie mates in lab/watermelon parties back in power, so they can continue to actually destroy the country without fanfare.
If a labour/watermelon party did exactly the same thing, they would be lauding it and shouting about how good it is for all the little people from the roof tops. The only and I say that deliberately ONLY reason they are up in arms is because it came from the LIB's, and for no other reason.

Yeah, and a new study has shown that, isis is caused by globull warming to. there is a list of everything that is caused by globull warming, and it is so funny, if its hot, globull warming, if its cold, globull warming. more ice, gw, less ice, gw. they even say gw changes the earths gravitation, and can tilt the earth to destroy it, and it increases the likelihood of meteors hitting us, because the heat slows down a passing asteroid and drags it in.
Besides, according to the gorical, santa should be under water now, not having a mass ice increase. how many sailing boats got stuck and had to be rescued because they believed the gorical when he said the northwest passage would be open this year?

Hi Guy, I am wondering if anyone can direct me to any source that shows how to make, ethanol, pure alcohol etc. To be used as a fuel source, not for drinking.
What I am looking for is, what type of plant material should I grow to make the ethanol, where is a good place to pick up the brewing equipment etc.

Well, they push abortion, euthanasia, mercy killings, they even talking about giving life prisoners the option of euthanasia. So when you really get down to it, you teach people that life is worth nothing and any reason to destroy it is absolutely fine and nothing to be fretted or worried about, then why are we shocked when this type of thing happens?

Cool, just found this post!!!
Hey Mr Hawk, can you get the auspacks, the old army issue ones, that were the first to come out in camo? I loved those as they had straps on the outside to put almost any mixture of pouches on you wanted, much more versatile. sadly they demanded them all back when I discharged.
Also, can you get pack frames? Extra pouches of different sizes? Webbing sets? shoulder straps, belt (including the wide padded under-belt)

As if the govt is not already taking too many liberties, and turning more and more into a nanny state, you want to give the idiots MORE power. No thanks, let the fatties be, it slows them down, and besides, this makes it less likely that they can make it out to my BIL, they will die before they hit the range.
We have to let everyone have their free choices, if they choose wisely, they live, if they choose foolishly, they perish.

Looking at this, if you go off grid, and have your own water storage, HIDE IT!!!
The next thing, govt will turn up at your door, give you a water stock take, and either charge you for how much you can hold, or worst case, take as much as they feel you don't really need.
another govt control method, is to tag as terror suspect because of the "hoarding" of stocks, because if you do this, you obviously mean no good to the country.
Reference for this is the Bible book of Revelations, specifically to do with the number of the beast and also not being allowed to buy or sell without the mark of the beast.
