The fbi is currently looking at the Islamic connection. But does it not strike anyone strange that, IS put out the call to behead people, and now we have a spate of beheadings and attempted beheadings?

If you look at some of the links by commenters, apparently she was in fact breaking some laws along the way, plus not paying for services she used. But lets see what it looks like when all the info is actually in.
Sadly, there are people out there who are leaches, who give preppers and stand alone people a bad name.
I also understand, that in some cities, the air pollution is at a point that no water caught on the roof of a house is actually safe, so cannot be collected for drinking.
right or wrong, we need to stick within the law, so we can keep prepping for shtf.

If a meteor hits, you have two options, if it lands anywhere near you, your most likely dead, so don't worry.
But again, it has so many variables, size, composition, angle of entry, location of impact etc.
again if it is a big sucker, or one that is mostly iron, and it hits either land or onshore, the debris would cause a nuclear type winter, so solar panels would be out. plus the initial heat wave would kill millions, if it hit a city of any size.
Sadly a meteor impact scenario is not planable for, unlike civil unrest, flood, fire, etc. You either live through it, or die, end of story.
But hey, you have more chance of getting eaten by a shark, hit by lightning and run over by a bus all on the one day that a meteor wiping us out in our life time.
Lets get ready for this years meteor shower in November and enjoy the beautiful light show.

I was being asked the questions in an airtight room being recorded with fat men in suits sitting across the table from me. Is that what the military psych test is like? I've always wondered what sort of questions they ask to see if you're the right mind set. Nah, military tests are IQ, Logic, that sort of thing, its when they interview you that becomes the pain, they treat you like you are guilty until proven innocent.
YAY, I got
410 days 80.7% 75% But I think there are a lot of morality questions that if you choose to be civilised they mark you down.

Lets just say i know of a property that may or may not be owned by a family friend that may be around the 1100acre mark that again, may or may not back onto a few hundred thousand ares of state forest. This land just may have a river that could possibly be good for trout and/or bass. The owners which i may or may not actually know might in fact run cattle to which at any given time have possibly around 200 head. If infact they actually have cattle. These said cattle may also be the social type of cattle and hang out at times with what could or could not be 200odd sheep. But to answer the question *speaks into mic* Whats a bug out location? Me to. all my family live in inner suburban flats and they raise budgies on the patio. and the rest live under the story bridge in last months latest cardboard boxes, latest fashion I tells ya, great insulation, and the views, boy you could pay a million for them thar views.
1,100 acres, that might or might not, possibly be or not be, about the size if in fact they actually didn't live in the inner suburbs about the size of the house paddock, if in fact they actually had one of course.
But back to the thought of my post, go out, meet some farmers, learn some skills, help out our poor struggling men and women on the land, Lord knows they could use help, and if it does turn potty mix, you might just have somewhere to escape to. After all, how many of us have close family who are all farmers.

You are absolutely right Jay! But if you never start planning, it is too late when you have to put a plan in place. everyone has to start where they are, and hopefully if it does turn to potty mix, maybe just maybe, someone will lend a helping hand.
After all, that is why we are all here, is it not?
2-3 jerry cans, boy you are traveling light aren't you? I would not think of moving without at least 100 litres extra. plus extra water.
Also, we should be watching always, that way, if it does go down, we can hopefully get out before the zombies make it to your location, it will always radiate outwards, inner city, inner suburbs, outer suburbs, far out suburbs, etc. drive hard, have multiple routes out of town, learn to read maps, and always have multiple backup plans, and hey you never know, you just gave yourself a 100% better chance of survival than if you just thought, yeah, the gubmant will look after me, cause I is useless wifout the gubmant to do everyfing for me, duh. LOL humour ark ark.

Hi guys, I have noticed that many here do not have bug out locations organised, or available to them. Is that what you think lol Maybe just a little Opsec Nope, its my sgt Shultz gig, I see noooothing, I hear noooothing, I see nooooothing, nooooothing.
I am hoping it is in fact opsec. But some may have no where to go, so the idea I put forward.
As for me, I have family who have lots of properties in out of the way locations that I can use at any time. plus there is a great supply of food available.

Hi guys, I have noticed that many here do not have bug out locations organised, or available to them. So I thought I would throw out a couple of ideas for everyone.
1/ Head inland, 1 tank of fuel worth of inland. 2/ Look for a farm, sheep, cattle, grain farms. 3/ Ask really nice for the farmer to let you use part of their shearing shed as shelter.
Couple of reasons for this. 1/ good supply of water. 2/ Isolated. 3/ Plenty food supply. sheep, cattle, roo's etc. 4/ They can always use free help. 5/ You might just learn something.
So head out of town, visit some farms, (not the ones that do farm stays), introduce yourself, ask if you can lend them labour for learning and bunker down location if disaster strikes. Trust me, they will be glad for help, company, and yes they will fully believe the city folk are that dumb to riot and wreck things. And if you do, make sure you can pay your own way, at least until the shtf.
Any other thoughts out there?

Hi SM+?,
My suggestion would be aluminium box, with prefab corner/joiners, cheaper, lighter, readily available, and once you push them together, a quick drill and you can either screw them or rivet them together for a tight finish. plus aluminium does not rust. most metal places have them, and I believe Bunnings how stocks them.

I do have to point out as well, along with senior citz, you have to look at those of us (I refer to myself in this sense) who are infirmed, I was in a serious vehicle accident in the Army, broke my back, hips, legs, ribs etc, (give evil kenevil a run for his money on bones no longer in original condition).
For the aged, or infirmed, find ways to do the hard things mechanically. Such as levers, pullies, longer handles on wheel barrows, that sort of thing. Just try and figure out as many ways to do things without out side help as you can. brains over brawn.

Oh dear Jay, the sad part about the Taliban one is it's true.
Almost as bad as during the iran Iraq war, children were given little wooden keys and told that when they walked on a land mine they would not be blown up.

For those looking for briquette makers, homecare catalogue on line has them for about $50.00 AUD. I have one, I also got given a second one by some friends. if you use a plastic half barrel, one load can give you about 60 briquettes.
Technique, place paper in barrel, not necessary to shred, leave in over night, get a paint stirrer for an electric drill, place in mixture and wiz away, when it breaks up into a pulp, bucket out into moulds and stand on them, forget using the handles, just makes your arms sore.
Be advised, this is an ongoing process as the bricks take at least a month to dry, especially in a cooler or more humid climate.
You also need an unused area to leave them standing on their sides for the drying time, before you stack them, again out of the weather.
In a slow combustion heater, they do not work really well on their own, but can be used to supplement timber, in a fire box, I understand they work well, as long as they are not on the ground, must have air on all sides.

Just for you SM+? www.customwagonwheels.com/mormon-hand-cart.htmlHere is a good base idea for a hand cart, for those having to bug out on foot. obviously you would build it with light weight modern materials, you should add a shoulder harness as well, it takes weight off the hands, and increases the load and distance you can carry. Also you can add straps to the sides for a second or third person to assist with up hills etc. plus if you do it right, you have a ready made bed.

Hi guys, just a thought, can everyone posting photos of their vehicles please cover their number plates. Just a bit of a personal safety issue. especially for those with really well kitted out vehicles, it becomes a theft magnet, the parts alone would be worth pinching them. keep safe, keep your personal info as hard to get as possible, especially as big brother is always watching.

Dude, stay away from rail lines!! and for that matter, stay away from the high power line tracks as well. when shtf that is probably two ways people will think to get out, which means, more chance of looters, robbers etc.
Find as many different small routes out of town (if you live in town that is) that you can, stay away from all "high speed links" free ways, motor ways, high ways, toll ways, etc.
If you do some simple study, you will find that there are multiple ways out of town and you will never have to get on a numbered road. Start thinking, "SAFEST" way out, not just the quickest.
Also, if possible, start thinking about moving to an outer suburb.

If you are really interested in smithing, I suggest contacting the SCA, also known as the society for creative anachronism. I did a lot of armouring mainly using 2 mm steel, no forging though, but there are people who actually do it as a guild. you can get some awesome info off them, and they can direct you to where you can get or make almost everything you need. up to smelting if you want.

Just had a look, yep, its a mog. awesome vehicle, great ground weight distribution, and they do in fact have a very good turning circle. Also, if it has the military gear box, you have a reverse switch inside, which means you can go from 60 forward to 60 in reverse with the flick of a switch, the tire smoking is awesome.
Some good points for them.
1/ front end is tough, good for pushing over small sapling trees. 2/ good ground clearance, you can ford some creeks, if the banks are not too steep. 3/ fuel use is actually quite good. 4/ they do not bog easily, as long as on wet tracks, you do not try to ride in other tracks, (make your own tracks). 5/ if they do bog, you can get winches front and back to pull your self out.
Bad points. 1/ being so tall, they are easily visible unless you use non reflective paint. 2/ being so tall, they can and do fall over. if this happens, getting them back up is a crane job or walk away.
In my humble opinion, the best bug out vehicle is a twin cab 4x4, and a 7x5 box trailer with high sides and mesh cage. To escape rioting (read zombie horde), using security screens (Bunnings has them cheap) on your windscreen and side windows, is the way to go. Also, if you can find them, hardened inserts for your tires (puncture guards I believe they are called) and inner tubes is the best for a bug out vehicle. very light window tinting, in case the glass is smashed, will stop any shards coming inside. (use a yellow/gold tint if possible, as this increases visibility day and night).
And practise camping, at least 1 week long, to see any equipment you need to update, or are short on to live off grid.

As no one has made the suggestion, the ceiling space, if you have a pitched roof that is.
get some heavy ply wood, to cover your roof battens, using underfloor insulation that is out on the market now, under the roof, and then use that space as storage, you will of course need to look into some sort of venting system as well to circulate the air, and keep things cool and dry.
Also, for quick access, you can get an attic retractable stair system, not sure where, but a google search should give you the info you need.
If you are smart, you can camouflage the entry, by renovating your ceiling to have tongue and groove look panelling. hallways are the best for this, as the space is just the right width, and it makes it easy to look like it does not exist.
