I had a near miss a few days ago. Basically I was on the footpath, crossing a blind driveway, when a car reversed at speed out of the driveway. It missed me by inches. It only missed me because I always stop to check before I cross a blind driveway. Had I not done this the car would have hit me at a speed fast enough to cause significant injury to me. Being 'prepared' saved me.
And it got me thinking.
Most preppers focus on the core things, like guns, food and water, shelter, bush skills, bug out bags and vehicles, precious metals, preserving etc . All the stuff the guru's write about and are the focus of most topics on any prepper site. (ever notice how many internet and youtube preppers are obese? They failed the first lesson of prepping)
But how many of us also focus on the 'boring' preps?
Like keeping fit, eating healthy, not smoking, driving defensively, not getting drunk in public, actively practicing being aware of your surroundings.
These simple things may well save you from the most likely shtf scenario you will face. I just spent 2 hour yesterday on atilla the tilling machine, breaking brand new ground. tomorrow it is off to collect more fire wood (trunks this time, 3 foot diameter). we eat veggies straight out of the garden. my wife says I drive like a grandpa. can't stand the smell of grog. Nope, completely not prepared in any way. Good points.

Yeah, they said the same about a fellow called Noah too. That worked well for them didn't it. Hey Noah, nice boat you got there, expecting rain are ya? Noah "why yes I am". crowd, "LOL oh Noah, your such a crackup". Hey Noah, nice farm you got going on there. Noah "why thankyou very much". Crowd, "hope you got a big shovel". Crowd "what's this wet stuff?".

( from an email from strop2) In a news conference, Deanna Favre announced she will be the starting Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers football team next season. Deanna asserts that she is qualified to be the starting QB because she had spent 16 years married to Brett while he played QB for the Packers - even though she has actually never played football at any level from grade school up, never ran the offense of any team, nor ever played the game. During this period of time, she became familiar with the definition of a corner blitz, the nickel package, man-to-man coverage, so she is now completely comfortable with all the other terminology involving the Packers offense. A survey of Packers fans shows 50% of those polled supported the move. Does this sound idiotic and unbelievable ... or familiar to you? Hillary Clinton makes the same claims as to why she is qualified to be the President of the United States and 50% of Democrats polled agree. She has never run a city, county, or state during her "career" as being Bill Clinton's wife. When told Hillary Clinton has experience because she has 8 years in the White House, my immediate thought was, "So does the pastry chef, and the person who picks up dog crap from the White House Lawn" When it comes to running the State Department, her biggest achievement was getting a US Ambassador and 3 other Americans killed, by pretending terrorism had been defeated.....Her words still echo..."what difference does it make" Comment: At least Deanna Favre is pretty! By her own admission, her two achievements whilst secretary of state were; 1. stood up to Putin with a misspelt reset button. 2. was in the situation room during Benghazi.
Not making it up, she actually tweeted the above.

All part of the larger plan. total breakup of society as a whole, cause each individual to be total alone, reliant completely upon Govt, from "cradle to grave" (remember Obama administration video). What stands in the road of this, Judaeo/Christian world view of marriage, and family being the basic building block of society. get rid of this and you can install your communist utopia. sure they call it, socialism, progressivism, liberalism, and all the other isms, but at its heart is pure communism, completely devoid of anything that even resembles the evil capitalism. How do I know this, a communist actually told me.

News here in Australia are kind of silent on the subject. But I am hearing through church members that they are all now realising that things can go south quickly, the number of questions I have had to field is ridiculous.

Sadly, common sense is no longer common. We can thank they nihilist crowd for this type of outcome. Reminds me of a scripture (paraphrased) train them up in the way they should go, and when they become older they will not leave it.

Krull, can you please confirm that link? The address is not reachable to me. Try oo.com It is hard to know sometimes if it is an o or a 0. See how similar they are. I just know I get some good bargains from them, they are an outlet of a couple of upmarket web sellers.

Well, think about it this way, would you be happy living in a tent by a creek? If you can get to that point, then work up from there, you will be fine.

The website www.00.com.au has them cheap. they put a lot of stuff on special that doesn't sell on their sister sites. Wife and I bought one recently, good value and we just have to now put it up. their return and replace service is excellent as well. we also bought a 4 wheel hand garden cart with droppable sides, works wonders for hand watering the lawn with recycled water.

I think this is going to be a slow and painful resetting of the system.

We have noticed at least three breeds of bee on our property. Plus our next door neighbour is a professional bee keeper, so out honey is covered.

I think with all the terrorism and what not, globalisation is pretty much doomed itself population transfer is going to go backwards, patriotism is going to go wrong (deaths and internment camps spring to mind). the world will eventually split into its economic zones, while locking everyone else out. wouldn't want to live in Europe though, look who they get stuck with. Heck, look who we get lumped with.

The thing that can happen if companies and govt and individuals are smart is to reduce the cost and price and wages of everything. Call it an economic reset. Obviously it would have to be done very carefully and with a completely transparent and informed way. Not being an economist, I do not know how this would or could be done. So it is just an off the top of the head thought. But hey, it could be a great way to redo the taxation system.

If it hits the fan, you can kiss trade deals and trading partners goodbye, the globalisation is going to implode big time. I hope some people can retool and retrain, if we have any skilled workers left that is.

It doesn't have to be an active volcano. one of those can pop up almost anywhere on the ring of fire. Just depends on where the magma rises through the crust.
