So 5 hostages have escaped. Just a thought, but how about asking one of these escaped hostages how they got out and send in one or two guys with rifles to shoot this joker in the head.

I'd take the 9mm every time. Heck I'd take 50rds of 9mm over $1k of silver.
If the SHTF the 9mm is useful (well to me), the silver is just a lump of metal and pretty much totally useless but might be useful in the future when/if things settle down as a new form of currency and that is provided you survive long enough.
Ask yourself this, during the SHTF would you trade $400 worth of your supplies to someone for $400 worth of silver?

This is one of the aircraft I was looking at. team-blacksheep.com/products/product:512Not a really cheap setup but I wouldn't trust the setups that only cost 100's and the price is mostly for the once off gear ie a transmitter, receiver and FPV gear. The actual plane body itself if you crash and damage one is relatively cheap at about $100 US I think I would like one though that is more of a glider so I'm still looking around.

This is something I have been thinking about this year.
I can see a long range electric glider/plane fitted with a FPV (first person view) system as being a very useful tool.
The advantage of a electric glider over other systems is you have a much longer run time than say a quad copter. The glider is also much quieter and can be almost silent at times when you may need it.
One of the models I have been looking at has up to a 15km range.
Why do I want one? The ability to see what is going on around an area of several km's can be VERY valuable. Examples 1. Scout the road ahead for blockages 2. Scout for places of interest 3. Scout the area for other people or threats 4. Monitor live stock 5. Inspect property and boundary fences.
I'm sure there are many other useful uses as well.

" ‘preppers’ – people who are making detailed plans for the end of the world as we know it" "group of survivalists who take extreme measures to prepare for a major catastrophic event" lol, media over sensationalizing as usual

The Busse TGLB is a great knife but it costs almost $400 US. Once you factor for exchange rates and Busse shipping it here its easily a $500 knife and that is with basic grips, add another $50 US for G10. Esee blades are great bang for the buck, I'm still waiting for my Esee 6 to break

Last friend was another avid shooter. Last firearm was a suppressed HK416 rifle. I think I'm pretty well off
