There are many reasons why you should do so, here are a few...
1) You are being profiled by companies such as Google, Faceplant, etc in order to sell you something. 2) You are or can be monitored by the Government. 3) You can be a victim of hacking and or identity theft a whole lot easier. 4) Your telco (ISP) by law now records and stores all of your meta-data which can lead straight to you and must hand it over to any organisation without question or warrant at their request. 5) Your location can be found. 6) You can access servers from other countries which allow you to access content specific to that country and not available elsewhere. 7) If you do not run a VPN on your phone, anyone can set up a wireless connection and if you connect to it, they have access to everything on your device and can watch everywhere you go. Someone did this in a McDonalds from memory, naming their connection McDonalds i think too, they stole a lot from people as a result.
As i said, these are just a few reasons, there are many more.
When you access the internet with a VPN, your connection goes straight through to that VPN server, from that point you access the web and your surfing is encrypted.
When choosing a VPN, ensure that you do not choose one registered in any nation that shares data such as the 5 Eyes Agreement (USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand). There are other Nations which will hand over data at a moments notice.
Find a VPN which does not log anything except amount of usage, if, they are looked into, they have nothing to share as there are no logs. Find a VPN which operates in a country which has laws which respect internet privacy, and dont share. If for instance a country that operates a VPN in a nation which does share, but boasts that they dont keep logs, the issue is that the Gov in that Nation may hijack the servers to then monitor the traffic and register the IP's that connect to it, in a country that doesnt work with these Nations, its unlikely.
Find a VPN with 'Kill Switch'. This means, if your connection to your VPN server fails, your internet drops out immediately until you reconnect, that way, your ISP is not exposed.
Find a VPN which has no limits on usage or you might be paying, and find a VPN which is fast as some servers can slow your connection down.
A VPN is the bare minimum standard for internet connection these days. If you operate Firefox or Chrome, you can also have WEBRTc leaks which can expose your Ip address regardless of running a VPN, so let me know via pm if thats you and i can run you through a couple of things to hide it on your browser.
There is a lot i could say on this, and a lot of free tools out there also to use which can make it difficult for anyone to hack you or track you. Hope that helps short term anyways.

Can you guess which of the following are true and which are false? Answers are below. 1 . Apples, not caffeine, are more efficient at waking you up in the morning. 2. Alfred Hitchcock didn't have a belly button.. 3. A pack-a-day smoker will lose approximately 2 teeth every 10 years. 4. People do not get sick from cold weather; it's from being indoors a lot more. 5. When you sneeze, all bodily functions stop, even your heart! 6. Only 7 per cent of the population are lefties. 7. Forty people are sent to the hospital for dog bites every minute. 8. Babies are born without kneecaps. They don't appear until they are 2-6 years old. 9. The average person over 50 will have spent 5 years waiting in lines. 10. The toothbrush was invented in 1498. 11. The average housefly lives for one month. 12. 40,000 Americans are injured by toilets each year. 13. A coat hanger is 44 inches long when straightened. 14. The average computer user blinks 7 times a minute. 15. Your feet are bigger in the afternoon than any other time of day. 16. Most of us have eaten a spider in our sleep. 17. The REAL reason ostriches stick their head in the sand is to search for water. 18. The only two animals that can see behind themselves without turning their heads are the rabbit and the parrot. 19. John Travolta turned down the starring roles in 'An Officer and a Gentleman' and 'Tootsie.' 20. Michael Jackson owns the rights to the South Carolina State Anthem. 21. In most television commercials advertising milk, a mixture of white paint and a little thinner is used in place of the milk. 22. Prince Charles and Prince William NEVER travel on the same airplane, just in case there is a crash. 23. The first Harley Davidson motorcycle built in 1903 used a tomato can for a carburetor. 24. Most hospitals make money by selling the umbilical cords cut from women who give birth. They are used in vein transplant surgery. 25. Humphrey Bogart was related to Princess Diana. They were 7th cousins. 26. If coloring weren't added to Coca-Cola, it would be green. (Scroll down for answer.) They are ALL true ...... Now go back and think about #16. Bullcrap! How did Alfred Hitchcock not have a belly button? People do not get sick from being inside, they catch a bug, nothing to do with being inside. Babies do have knee caps, (patella) they are just softer and harden later. Others have to be crap too i reckon, so good joke, lol

If any of you were starving hungry with families and you knew where there might be supplies locked up but they were guarded by people with guns, or dogs or high fences......but you felt you had no alternative since the shops did not open......are you going to avoid the location and walk away when you have nowhere else to go to get food? I think we all know the answer, and if it takes you to organize a group of other hungry people to help you would you do that or just say no those supplies are not mine I will go away and watch my wife and kids die of hunger? I think we all know the answer to that one as well. If you have shit other people want then your only option is to ensure they don't know it is there, and you need to keep it that way. Geek, i agree the end point is important, but i don't fully agree with the above as in many cases there is generally another place for folk to go to find foods without risking their life to get it. In the event that there isn't, yes agreed, its likely some will try.

Attack dogs that run the boundary fences, high strong fences, strong doors and windows, security cameras all linked in around the block with sensor lights also. A lock room, a 12guage and more dogs that have been trained to attack staying with you inside.

Ignore Peter1942 he comes on here every so often, tells us we are not prepared and then leaves for a while. Says pretty much the same thing each time. Its probably GP from the other forum, he admitted that he has a couple of log ins under different names and lurks in the shadows lol. Regardless, i dont mind challenge, and my comment showed that such comments are not realistic, rather silly.

It sounds to me by reading most, if not all the previous posts in this thread that most, if not all of you are not suitably prepared for a SHTF situation regardless of how long it was to last. No-one is suitably prepared ever, as we do not know what situation might arise in our neck of the woods. Do you have all of your electronic gear in a faraday cage if a solar flare blows everything up for instance? Do you have an endless supply of food that will absolutely take care of you to survive and thrive a nuclear blast and its radiation residue for years to come? Do you have an endless supply of ammo to deal with millions of people that might find out about you and attack you? Again, nobody is absolutely prepared. The other aspect is, that many of us are limited in our abilities for how much money we have and or if we are currently renting. So prepping is an ongoing thing. Do you own your house and land etc outright or are you still paying for a mortgage? What happens if the economy collapses. Do you have an underground living area that cannot be found on the property you own, for you to survive in if the Crown decide to seize your property? Ill be the first to admit im not prepped enough, and tbh i dont know if i will ever be. I do have on the foot skills for hunting, trapping and growing food etc. Im strong and very determined and wouldnt think twice to defend my family and or friends if a without rule of law situation ever occured and we were under attack, but i can always do with more skill and learning...in every area.

Avoid anywhere where people might be that aren't in your group. Avoid major roads as much as possibly and practical, always have a way out, or vehicle that is capable of going bush fast and hard!
If you need to go to the shops for food or needy supplies for 6 months, you weren't prepped enough, either skill or supplies.

Very concerning, thanks for putting up the article, im going to pass this on.
My wife and i have purchased a lot off Gumtree over the years, and many of those, especially from Gumtree have been about going to the house or place to inspect and pick up the item. I have always been wary of the pick up place, and if my wife ever went alone, i always had the address and details of the place, but after reading this, she wont be going without me ever again.

Cheapest, quickest option for the end of the world for dual heating and cooking would be to make your own or purchase someones diy woodstove from gumtree or ebay. Or, purchase one and add to the flu so that it exhausts outside. www.ebay.com.au/itm/Portable-Camping-Wood-Stove-Wood-Heater-Pot-Belly-Stove-Fire-Fireplace-/292126884187?hash=item44041e815b:g:-4gAAOSwCQZZI8Ep$189 and $20 delivery. Personally speaking, every house needs a wood heater that can be used as a stove if your a prepper imho even if its an ornament awaiting use at the end of the world. Lots of folk used these in the old days for their kitchen stove, and they are making a comeback these days selling new ones. They heat the house, stove top cook, oven cook, and have a wetback for heating water all from wood. Wood is available everywhere, wood burns hotter, cleaner and is efficient and cost effective, go wood! www.ebay.com.au/itm/Antique-Cast-Iron-Wood-Stove-Oven-Original-Enamel-Colors-Water-Heater-And-Tap-/132202413038?hash=item1ec7e0bbee:g:9b4AAOSw9OFZJQpj

This (wild dogs) is becoming an issue. Lying on the ground in a bivvy might make you look too much like a sausage roll to a pack of dogs and you can't get out in a hurry. But your arms are free and so you can reach a gun. Inside a tent is better, heck I've slept in one with lions walking around. But how does a hammock rate in this regard I wonder. I remember on a field exercise, after the hoochies were set up, I gave the girls some talcum powder, and told them to sprinkle it outside around their set ups. They asked "Why", and I said "So you can see the dingo footprints in the morning" For some reason, none of them slept all night!!!! haha, nasty! but, one way to keep them quiet throughout the next day, sleep deprivation lol

Sandplain country! Farmland that has mostly been cleared, remaining bush is scrubby and has smallish trees like banksia etc that are no good for hanging things from, especially at any great height 😉 Righto, i thought as much. You can still hang off different stuff like your car or trailer, and set up different set ups to hang without trees as well. Here's one option. Yer certainly no good trying to get up high when there's nothing to climb up high on though lol
