Interesting, it's pretty damn small though.

They are building/have built a bigger one mate. I wonder what the heck they are doing with it?

Interesting article. Will be interested to see what comes of it in the future or if we ever find out the purpose behind it.

It is definitely a prototype. Typically, the US uses the X code to indicate a prototype.

Yeah sounds like a prototype. Still, will be interesting to see what they plan on using it for. ..

aahh, I know this beasty, basically what they are doing is looking at an unmanned resupply vehicle for the space station and future missions to the moon and mars.
How is works from my understanding from tech sights is, they launch from earth obviously, then auto pilot it to destination then the receivers pick up the signal and guide it in for docking at their end.
for a mission say to mars, they send them at 2 month intervals to be met up with by the manned mission along the way, this will cut weight down for the launch from earth, plus it can carry extra fuel, food, clothing medicine etc, plus you don't have to worry about speed with them, just shoot em fast and furious.
But that one is small in comparison to the end model which will be about twice its size, from what I understand, big enough to store something the size of a long haul bus.

And its back! www.news.com.au/technology/science/us-militarys-robot-space-plane-lands-back-on-earth/story-fnjwlcze-1227095054809
"A TOP secret US robot space plane has landed back on Earth after a 22-month orbit, officials said, although the craft’s mission remains shrouded in mystery. The unmanned X-37B, which looks like a miniature space shuttle, glided into the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on Friday after having launched on December 11, 2012, on a mission that military officers say is still strictly secret.
“I’m extremely proud of our team for coming together to execute this third safe and successful landing, said commander Keith Balts of the US military’s 30th Space Wing, after the 9.24 am (3.24am AEDT Saturday) landing."
"Analysts say the X-37B could be a platform for spying from space, including possibly snooping on other countries’ satellites.
But officials have previously denied the project had anything to do with creating a “space weapon” that could knock down other satellites.
The Air Force says the X-37B can test technology for “reusable” spacecraft and conduct unspecified experiments that can be studied on Earth."

Looks like they were testing solar arrays, apparently once they got it up there, the deployed the solar system, so it sounds to me like testing of new panels wiring and batteries.
