Most would know with kids when your stress levels are high the child "feels it" and can act out.. So I'm asking the question how would you calm your children when the shtf??
(Thanks jay for making me think of the question)
This is for all ages (0-16) but ideas from experience or thoughts welcomed
With mine (0-6yo)

the bridge of the nose, stroking towards the forehead with your thumb, is a easy way to get my kids asleep/relax

We babywear, with both my kids (even the toddler)it takes demon baby to sleepy kitten in about 2 minutes. With the little one, if I desperately needed her to be quiet in a hurry I'd just feed her.

Well mine aren't nursing age anymore, 10, 6 and 3, but I wear the 3 year old, and music is generally good at calming them and distracting them I've found. Say if in a bug out situation, anything that's familiar and has good memories, say, a toy they love, lollies, music

I dont know bout y all but my teen and tween already think I,m crazy gathering and prepping ,everytime I,m watch u tube clip its something to do with prepping. They fob it of but found my youngest helping me load up and date a box of preps.involving them and make it a game as life is a game.if they show any, absolutely any interest in what I,m up to make them part of it.in a situation I think I,d adopt the same strategy.keep them informed up to a point and give them allocated tasks so they're vigilant, learning and busy.for littlies......feels like a lifetime back the way my lot carry on.without electricity they might be in ipod withdrawal for a bit but keep em busy and up to date.depending on situation.scary things can be kept to yourself or .....well that's dependant on the kids age and experience with prepping.i need a prepping app for the ipod.like said familiarity keeps them relaxed.Mostly if your calm they,ll be calm so pretty important to keep the head of the group calm.prepping app game.... ??hmmm.

My daughter loves doing craft with me! So i try to store up those small craft kits from cheap stores to do with her. Keeps them quite and distracted and calmer as they are focussed on the task. For older children get them to invent their own country with maps and language, get them to draw it on paper if you have no electricity.

I am very lucky that my oldest 2 love my prepping activities, especially the 5 yr old boy. As a tongue in cheeck thing they call it "Daddys Crazy Man Stuff". However when it comes to calming I probably wont need to do to much, the daughter is already little miss mum and tries to look after all of us, if she maintains that mentality while absorbing the prepping activities I think I have a fantastic little babysitter!!
Aside from that, something 'normal' would be the best bet. Also if they have a favourite teddy or toy make sure you take that.
