This weeks been a lazy one for me as I've been on a weeks holiday pottering around the house and heading down the beach for a daily swim. This spot is one of the best kept secrets on the central coast, Tuggerah beach which stretches from Norah head to The Entrance. Its part of Wyrabalong national park and has Littoral rainforest backing right up to the beach. The middlle of the beach is usually deserted due to access so everyone heads north or south which is good for me. The national parks and council frown upon beach camping so I decided to go on an overnight STEALTH camp ( If caught i was going to say i was researching and recreating the WW2 Coastwatchers camp ) I had a ball This pic was taken up on the hill This one from ten feet away Front view from the beach approx ten feet away Inside view of the Shangrila hotel The view from the balcony The tarp is from Mosquito hammock.com. I really like this tarp it goes with me on all my camp outs. If theres a tip i could give anyone using tarps or light tents for that matter is to replace any tie downs / rope / lines etc with thin bungee shock cord from bunnings. Its only a few bucks for 10 metres. Normal polyprop tie down rope will always go slack in windy conditions no matter how much tension you apply with the plastic tensioners or truckies knots. Theres nothing worse than having your sleep interrupted by flapping sails all night. The bungee cord always keeps the tension on the tarp especially on the sand dunes. I even replaced the polyprop cord on the bivvy sack fly net to keep it off my face. Cant recommend the stuff enough. The only other tip i can give is take a radio, book or kindle with you. I dont know about anyone else but i get bored pretty quick and a book or music helps me get through the night when i wake every few hours.

Thanks guys Dan, Its not the ocky cord with the hooks mate. Its only a few mil thick with no hooks on the end. I just melt the ends like paracord. You can see the thickness of it in the photo of the cord holding up the bivvy net.

Great post - thanks. I got a bivvy bag recently, which I love for the lack of weight, and easy storage. You sure picked out some great parts of our wonderful country to camp in. So, where are the photos of all the fish cooking on the fire? ?
