Just with the floating of island living, and the 2 locations in western Australia that were suggested really ticks some boxes (I'm a little biased to the 3 islands closer to Perth tho...
But the world as we know it has ended and all out plans have gone down s&%* Creek... The final bol is your only hope...
So time to talk infrastructure, from poop, to water, defense/security, electricity, organization, education, health care, the building blocks of a thriving society...
Ideas: Poop, composting system?? (Not perfect but need ideas, remember 1500 people is a lot of poop) Water, is a well (sp) or desal?? Defense/security, will need to maintain some form of navy (nothing flash, even small patrol boats?? Idk) and a land based defense force and a mobile "salvage" force Electricity, nothing too flash, been location, lots of options, possibly try and keep loading low as possible?? Organization, a well worded constitution?? Education, takes a community to raise children mentality Health care, no idea Trade/tax, minted coin, with a central hub (a outpost/store) run by the "governing" body, but employees paid for service??
Any additions to play with??

I must admit I prefer the archipelago but that may be biased as I used to camp there as a youngen. In terms of infrastructure the hardest artwill be transorting all of it over to the islands, you cant exactly do 700 trips to move one donger in a dinghy

Transport, not a extreme issue (if you consider Vietnam war, the Vc hand transported artillery pieces) The man issue that I have with those other islands, out side of that they are very "clumped" there is 1 established colony, and a small port town very close by... The idea of avoid populated areas is more to avoid conflict because by the time we trickle in, we wont be in the best of helth

Thinking about it transport is another infrastructure issue tho... Both from mainland to the island and the islands themselves

Agriculture. Not really infrastructure, but a requirement for a society. Grain, fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy. The ability to work land, grow sustainable crops and have enough animals to cover meat, dairy and egg production as well as reproduce for generations.
