Good news for the child In the book "Deep survival" who lives who dies and why by Laurance Gonzales. Statistically the majority of wilderness survivor cases are children up to seven years old. They have no concept of adult time constraints, deadlines etc. When they're tired they stop, when cold they climb into a cave or hollow log and sleep.They go with the flow so to speak. After age seven it was found that these children took on more adult concepts and perished.
