Heres an old DIY project I tried last year , A wool hunting shirt. Vinnies had this 100% wool blanket for 25 bucks, funnily enough they called it a dog blanket?. All i did was fold the blanket over making the back longer than the front to cover the back of my legs when i sat down and also add a hood. I used an old hoodie as the template and cut the hood out seperate. The beauty of this pattern was with the blanket folded over i didn't have to cut the sleeves and attach them separately. Because the blanket is folded in half all i had to do was cut under the arms then sew under them and down each side with a simple blanket stitch to join the coat together. This project is so easy to do, so give it a try. The only advice i can give from making my own is i would have made the sides a bit wider by about another 10 cm. My hoodie was wide and i did make allowances but a little bit more width would have made it easier to take on and off. Apart from that, a front pocket / flap wouldn't have gone astray either. The coat was then dyed brown ready for my local Satan worshippers convention. With my loyal four legged minion staring with awe at my greatness Heres a video on how to do a blanket stitch.

Is it warm?and does it itch? Pretty damn cool.

Lol I've made dresses and skirts in a similar way, I'm not a small or big person so I find it hard to get cloths that fit me right. I don't buy new cloths much, most of the time I make them, also I find it cheaper to make things.

Also op shop clothes used to be good value for money or as Res-Q has said, you can buy blankets from the Op shop and turn them into clothes. I like how the lady did it in the sound of music, re purposed old drapes. Res, got any suggestions for making shoes/boots?

got any suggestions for making shoes/boots? Use leather and some kind of rubber to make boots, socks and rubber for lighter shoes. I'll get the supplies and make some for you to see, shouldn't take to long to do the light shoe but the boots may take a lil longer as I will need to get the leather.

Sure mate, Keith a member on this forum had a tutorial i think on making moccasins. Either his blog woodsrunnersdiary.blogspot.com.au/ or his you tube channel had some good simple designs.
