This sounds great! I haven't been happy with any of the backpacks I have, and I was thinking there's a serious lack of decent backpacks for preparedness that don't LOOK like a prepper pack. I'll get to thinking about the features I'd like. It'd be cool if we could come up with a design that suits a few of us to make production a little easier for you.

Agreed, if one particular design ticks most of the boxes, I'd certainly be in for one (or maybe more).

Totally agree, with the 1000$,that stuff lasts forever if sewn right. Also(sorry to jump in halway but i only just come across this awsome thread)i agree bags ate crazy overpriced as i,ve been searching for a month and ended up with a pretty good one but its a brand i cant even find on the net and of course its made in china(bought from Australian company) and i don't plan on learning Chinese anytime soon.apart from that it seems like a good molle backpack.its not airsoft(although i,ve been reading extraordinarily different review's and opinions on that)i was think perhaps as load distribution is important perhaps a clip on front vest style molle attechment.sort of like a vest that attachement but not a full plate vest.maybe?I always just thought carrying a harness type molle vest would be good for essential items that ate easily accessible without pulling your bob apart and if in emergency you could dump pack........well that's not gonna work then is it if its attached.back to the drawing board.maybe just alot of decent sized compartments at the front and as much molle webbing all over it.1000 c is your best durability bet from my studying if it recently and good stitching.apart from that like all long term items comftability is paramount especially if your house and whole life are in it.Very interested to see how it turns out.

I would like a bag that comes in two parts that attach with a zip. The top half would be for my EDC (as I am a woman I carry a large handbag with my EDC) and then when I need to cart my Bug Out Bag with me I can attach the EDC to the top of bag. The EDC part would still need to be of fairly large size and the straps at back would need to be detachable from top part! Would also need a carry strap on the top that can be attached or detached. Remmy I LOVE that you've left a spot free for the member patch!

You can get military velcro patches that designate your blood group, NKA (No Known Allergies) etc, which might be handy. The patches are roughly 50x40mm and velcro on to your pack or uniform. Just a thought.

Not so relevant anymore unless you plan on transferring blood from one group member to another, but look cool

Hey here is a few pics of my BOB, good size and design, a few modifications would be great. the main one would be extra compartment for more storage like a 1ltr water bottle on eatch side
the side compartment could be bigger. <script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/94de3cf3/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>

the inside is good with the strapping. the front pouch opened has mag holders that fit a folding saw very well. <script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/94de3cf3/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>

Hey Brad if you could reproduce something like this I would take a few for the kids. even just plan backpacks for school would be great. then they would get a good pressure test as well, as the kids destroy there scholol bags.
thanks
Paul

good idea Paul, it looks like at this stage the best place to get the fabric is ebay. I am going to get some cotton to do some basic designs as templates for the staff. Will also let me play around a little with different ideas.
Cotton is not what they will be made our of however it is cheap and easy to get so it is the best material to use for mockups and basic patterns for staff to replicate. I am also looking at ways to bet the most out of the bag in different situations, like river crossing. Having a couple of bladders in the bag so it can float and in a bad situation you can use it as a floating device. Many different ideas, it is just a matter of making a couple of different mockups and getting the ball rolling.

Having a couple of bladders in the bag so it can float and in a bad situation you can use it as a floating device. Many different ideas, it is just a matter of making a couple of different mockups and getting the ball rolling. That sounds amazing! Here are some things I like in a bag: - Wide padded shoulder straps.
- wide padded hip strap.
- chest strap isn't a big deal for me - I usually baby wear on the front and have a backpack so if I did up the chest strap it'd be in bub's face. I'm sure others would want this though.
- decent water bottle (mesh?) storage on each side (deep to secure at least a 1L bottle) I do like the ones that have a hole so you can add a water bladder, but I don't usually use those - just have heaps of water bottles floating around.
- main compartment zips go all the way to the bottom - so you can fold it out flat like in Paul's pic.
- mesh zip inner compartments so you can see what is in them.
- pockets on front of straps to store things that you want quick access to without taking pack off (could also do this with hip straps).
- molle where practical so it can be customisable (but possibly integrated to look like decoration or something so it's not obviously a prepper pack).
- I like the detachable part that Rem mentioned - you could make a small day pack that attaches to a larger backpacking type pack (I've seen these floating around but they are always out of my price range).
- decent sized waterproof pocket (if the whole outer couldn't be waterproofed), my current backpack is a nappy bag/BOB and it has a big waterproof pocket at the bottom that I use for nappies

Good topic
Been on the hunt for quality inch bags (I'm never coming home)
But with what's available, the functions I like
Slim, (no wider that the average back)
A lid pocket
Civilian looking
Hip/belly strap/pocket
Basically the 70L pack from aldi
But a 2 pack system, the 70L + a 15L assault pack, that can be well organized for "tools of the trade" really floats my boat, that is zip opened to the bottom, includes a mat to act as a tool bench, and a small board that can be used to mount special tools, as well as a small parts organizer.. With a small pocket at front to hold 1 days worth of food and place for a 2L water bladder.. Some webbing on top to secure solar charger and you will have me sold (the biggest issue is how to attach to a hiking pack) And extra webbing on sides to secure machete/axe
My firm belief on packs (inch) Main, camp site/survival/food etc Assault, trade/secondary kit
As if you have a secure camp site, you don't need you main kit to go "shopping" lol

Sorry to bring up this thread.. was wondering if the custom thing is still going on? I've been looking at some of the classy canvas bags from Frost River Isle Royale.. was wondering if something like those can be done. www.frostriver.com/shop/isle-royale-bushcraft-pack/Thought of having some variety in my life.
