Hi there, Just a question for the gardeners out there, what do you people use to get rid of the pest in your gardens. Caterpillars, ants all those sort of little creapy crawlies. I remember reading somewhere you can use your yard weeds to make a spray. does anyone do this. any help would be great. thanks Paul<script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/60b7d251/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/60b7d251/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>

Not really a brilliant gardener here, but would depend if you want to go organic or not. We just go a generic insecticide from Bunnings or Masters, nothing special. If you want something natural, I have no idea

My garden is mostly organic, and I have a huge issue with those white moths laying eggs on my broccoli, and their little caterpillars eating all the leaves. I just pick the eggs and the caterpillars off by hand every couple of days. I only have 5 plants though so if you have more it's an idea to net it off. You can make a fairly basic frame with PVC pipe or some sticks lashed together, then throw the net over the top. It won't stop ants, but will stop most flying insects.
When it warms up as well I am going to plant some 'good bug mix' which is basically a mix of different herbs, plants and flowers that attract predator bugs to eat the unwanted bugs. You can also try planting marigold around your plants, apparently bugs don't like the smell (or it confuses them, I can't remember which). Unfortunately the first broccoli that got devastated was the one right next to the marigold plant so I don't have much faith in that method!
