I am going over my preps and the fire kit is the first one to have a make over. I have a couple of fire steels and different fuels like vaseline and cotton buds and dryer lint with vaseline however wanted to see some other options.
Found this video:
Fire straw:
Here is the content of my current fire kits:
Lighter Matches Firesteel x2 Char cloth Cotton balls with vaseline T candle Cord Small knife
That is the contents of one of the small fire kits I have. I think I will add the matches dipped in wax and make a couple of the fire straws, is there anything else or better I could be adding to the kits.

Hey Brad in my kit I have a small freznel lense, like the one I showed at Simons at the meet up. I also wrap the cotton balls and vas in duct tape as this became a fuel and they are water proof, you saw how well they work, I have a small piece of jute twine to use as tinder it work well, I have a couple of different fire kits, if they are in tins I wrap them with duct tape to seal them and keep water proof aswell. Then just peal off duct tape and use it as tinder. I carry char cloth as well, I have been praticing just finding a ramdom rock and sparking off the back of my knive, carbon steel knive. it takes practice but it works fine. hope this all make sence. I will watch the clips when I get home tonight, I am at work now.

Cheers Paul, I remember the duck tape pack, that worked very well. I will have to add one to mine.I have seen and wanted a few videos on the fire bow method. Going to try it soon and make sure I have the skills to do it. I keep cord in my fire kit just in case I have nothing else to turn to.
But watching it on the internet and actually doing at two separate things. I will see if I can record when I do it and post here (good and bad trials).

I just got home from work and watched the clips above, I am going to go and get some straws now and make up a few different little kits, they look good and simple. I havent seen that done before, very clever.

If you want a cheap Fresnel lens go to your local newsagent and grab one of those A4 Magnifier sheets. They're only a couple of bucks You can cut them up to any size you want to fit your kits or survival tins You can also try solar ignition, Take the mirrored cone out of your torch. remove the bulb and stick some dry grass in the hole and aim at the sun. The tinder will catch pretty quick so get ready to pull the tinder through the hole quickly or you'll burn the plastic moulding

Yeah I've been looking as well. There's a YouTube tutorial on how to make your own from regular safety matches but it seems a whole lot of hassle.

lol you must have been posting that as I edited my post yeah it's a good tutorial as well, you could probably use methylated spirits in place of water and they would dry somewhat faster, not sure if it will change anything else though.

looks easy enough, just that it is troublesome, so it'll prolly be easier buying off amazon (_if_ they ship overseas).

The other question is whether UPS or one of the courier companies would carry them. A decent bulk buy would be the most cost-effective way to do it to spread the shipping load.
The issue might be whether UPS/DHL/FedEx etc will carry them.

Been in contact with DHL. They will not ship matches "as they are classified as dangerous goods due to being extremely flammable".
