I have seen on youtube a bloke build his fishing kit into his bracelet, looked like a good idea then it is always with you.

I've used those wire saws before. Nothing to write home about, imo. Not a bad concept though. I've seen some brackets with some pretty interesting items.

Dun forget about it when you pass through airport security though =) Damn straight, I'm on a roll from the last thread i posted on. I got pinged at Sydney airport by the security guard at check in. He saw my paracord bracelet and suddenly i was shuffled off to the side for a scan for explosive residue,!!!!!! The shirt i was wearing was the same one i wore two days before at the pistol range. Shit happens!!!!!The machines that went ping had a field day. I wont go into the rest of the day other than to say i will not wear a paracord bracelet ever again. TIP: Have two pre paid envelopes self addressed and stamped when security picks up on something you forgot to remove from your wallet or carry on. You can step back outside and place the items in the padded post bag and place it in the post office box out the front and send it home to yourself. No way am i going to let those guys rake my favourite knife off me. As for the wire saw!!!!! They're crap, they bind when you cut saplings and get stuck if you keep the wire ends close together. Keep the ends ( ring pulls )as far apart as you can to prevent this happening. Happy days

Sorry to hear about your experience, Res. I absolutely agree. 'Preppers' have a reputation and airport security are trained to pick up signs and profile people. I do absolutely nothing to draw attention to myself anymore, especially around security, for that reason entirely.
As for the wiresaw, again, I've had the actually ring pulls come off every single time I've used one.

I'll definitely remember that the next time I travel, esp with the family after the last two incidents.. wife had her scissors take away from her FAK.. and the second.. 7 year old daughter had her scissors taken away from her stationary kit.. My daughter's incident was quite funny coz the airport staff was very professional and kind that he didn't want to upset my daughter into thinking that she did something wrong. He keep reassuring her that daddy will buy her a new one and that everything was ok... the staff kept looking at me .. hinting that I should back him up.. =) Wassup with my family and their scissors?? LOL

Up here in northern NSW the local airport takes a bucket of all the confiscated scissors/pointy/sharp things and shares them out around the local op-shops. I have picked up some very nice little pairs of those disposable medical scissors for .50c each. My Mum volunteers at one local shop- I'm constantly reminding her that if anything comes in marked Leatherman, Gerber, or Wenger, she is to grab them instantly. Hint: The little curved scissors work great when cutting up aluminium cans for metho stoves. I now have extra pairs everywhere.....
