After reading this thread, I have to admit, I'm staying put!! Well, for the first few months anyway!!
Reason?? - In a secured yard - I live in a cul de sac, so I have only a few fields of sight!! I have water in our tank - lots of it!!
I know my yard & house - I could run through it blindfolded!! This is a big plus for me!!
But, if the SHTFin a way I fell scared/unsafe, I have a few BOL's within 50km of my home - then the issue becomes gettin the family there, with enough food/water to last at least the minimum 6 mths!!
But at the end of the day, everyone has different circumstances, so their plans may differ!!

Thanks for the link to SHTF School shinester, I've been reading his stuff all day. Then even if it never rains again we have enough for 6000 days and I'm about to double that. Not very portable though . Maybe it's time I looked into our food, we're sadly lacking in that department at present.

I like to think being prepared is allot like what your saying Jay, to be truly prepared you need to be willing to stay or go and be capable to do it depending on the situation, I like you, have multiple locations staked out, maps of the local bushland, rivers etc, etc you can never be to prepared.
Just because I'm being paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get me.
