Okay I finally got all the stuff together ......except my die sets not here yet and neithers the knife but ate on the way.So I,ve checked dozens of different vids when possible but I,m wondering has anyone from the forum done any kydex work and if so how'd you fare.?There's only one custom maker in Australia I can find so who nows,it might be a possible buisness venture on a small scale.I,m building for all my knives but am really looking forward to my becker bk9 to get here so I can customise the hell out of it.Any experiences and pictures would be great,if its not been done on another thread also any survival sheath ideas and pics. All ideas and opinions muchly apprecited.

Hey hago, it think it would be a great idea for a little on the side business, I was thinking the same thing a while back, I have not made anything out of kydex, I have made two knive sheiths out of leather, firts one was just to see what I thought with a scapr piece of leather, the second I brought a piece of leather and it worked out fine, didnt have all the right tools but made do, I would love to have the equipment to do kydex but dont have the time to play at the moment, I have seen plenty of kydex tutorials on you tube and it does not look that hard, maybe a little fiddly, You can get most stuff made in America but cost of shipping some of it is rediculus, my I ask where you are going to get your kydex from as the only place I could find it was America, I did not look to hard was just teasing myself at the time. Hope you go ahead with it because I could become one of you customers, I am after a sheath for my condor Bushcraft machete.

I've pretty much got much Kydex work area set up and have started tinkering, I would be interested in making things for others once I am a little more confident with my work,

Paul Like you said I,ve had to have everything shipped from the states.I got 5 sheets for 50 eylets and Chicago screws.I,ve got the die and c clamp straightner thingy(that's the techniquical name, got my he's gun,am gonna use camping mat foam doubled over and cotton sheet glued to some board.so once the die set het here(which I was hoping was today but no) I,m off.The hardest thing I had sourcing was the die set.I,m gonna use 0.08 kydex, eylets and Chicago screws.I,m fairly good with my hands so hopefully it turns out well.I would need to source the kydex cheaper.its basically a thermo plastic with a long name and kydex is the brand name.I did call plastics places but asked for kydex which they hadn't heard of.i rec kon If I call back with its base level name I,ll have more luck as the actual sheets of a4 are only 3-4 bucks the rest is in shipping but I worked cheaper buying 5.....so I did.I got some old gen malice clips and simple attachable loops,I,ll make the rest and would like to do hybrids with leather drop loops.,I,mm gonna need to get tech locs which again I can only get from the states.whats with there crazy shipping.everything I wants over there I,d be better just shipping myself that way.i shall keep updating as soon as I make one which will be the day I can get the eyelets on.oh I got a dremmel style rotary tool too to help.needed that one anyrate.any homemade pics would be cool.Or hints and tips of the trade.

Yeah they okay but they cost an arm and a leg plus to do properly each knife should be sent to the sheath maker. So I figured for the price of one bought one someone else's way I can do five and have the tools for slightly more and make it my way and around my knives.Theres some killa ones at godspeed tactical and Redhill ....sheaths maybe.Redhill something.or knifekits.com but I dig kydex so figured I,d give it a crack.it was a price thing.I,ve spent ALOT of time in blade forum but I don't know if any of those guys do it on large scale.its more an in-house thing like the knives and out of my range.thats the .....long reason.money I just should have said.but I do enjoy other peoples creations alot.I,ll definatley scout them some more for ideas though.cheers.maybe they know where to get some kydex in Auss.now that would be good.

Yeah cheers Res ,I,ve checked them a few times.Thats the thing I can buy the tech locs at that price and I got some malice clips arrive yesterday (two pairs)for the same price although they not gen 3.The actual sheath is what I paid for 5 sheets of kydex and so on.But for ideas its not bad,if you like them as much as I do I,ll see if I can post a link for some booma looking ones although they come from the states.also there's a couple of plates for the backing that make ones sheath very versatile which I,ll be......borrowing.wont be the exact same but I really love the hybrids and drop leg systems.I,ll take some pics of what i got to go already today and whack it up on tho thread I I can work out my photo bucket account.also give me a bit I,ll go all I.t again and put a link to dome very beautiful numbers. What is it about kydex that looks so good? But thanks again Res for the pointer.I,ve found alot of them as anyone will now once one becomes fixated with a subject and checks the net you always end up looping......I need a coffee.lol.
