LOL well it's not what you think. In the distant past when heroes walked the streets people would stop and clap. Every year I would go to the ANZAC day parade and people would clap for our service personnel, it was deafening, now it's like everyone is too self conscious or afraid?
I was thinking it's well and truly time we brought it back. It's a great way to show your support and it's free. I would truly value your input everyone.

I think it's a good idea, it will show our service men and women that we stand by them.

All the more reason we need to rally behind and around them. Show them they have the support of the common person.

Back to the original thought, I try to make it a point when I see an ADF member in public just to say G'day and keep up the good work!

I say organise a march in full uniform down Western Sydney and call it " Diggers Appreciation Day". If we have to be too afraid to wear our uniform, then we have let these animals win the first round. I understand the logistics behind it, but if a minimum group of 3 walked the streets, they would be less inclined to act!

Res-Q, the title hit me in the same way too LOL We should honor the men and women in the Armed Forces whether it is in Australia or some other country for the sacrifices they make to ensure our freedom.

It's unfair that our service personal can't wear their uniforms in our own country, this is our land, not theirs (Isis).

With our Veterans Day parades right around the corner this coming week this is a timely topic for me as a vet When I was a kid, the 4th of July parade and the Vet Day observances were well-attended. In the 1960s my town skewed heavily to the left of the political spectrum and never really left the 1960s ( big Ivy League university town ). The political make-up of local political seats went from a mix of political parties to entirely one party, and many of the office-holders would no doubt skew to the left within their own party. Now these types of military observances are very lightly attended. It is unfortunate. Vet of OEF VII VIII and IX here. Had a chance to work around some of your military personnel, particularly in my second year over there. Always thought well of them
