Ok, so I was just dickin around today and got to thinking, what would I miss most in a full scale, WROL, SHTF situation? I am not talking the obvious ones like shops or medical facilities, i mean the little things, is there a particular chocolate you love, hell even a type of deodorant, i dont know.
So i am putting the question out there, what non essential would you miss the most?
For me it is scotch, I dont drink very often at all, but one of the few "me" things i spend money on is scotch, and I only drink Glenfiddich or Dimples. The fact that these particular whiskies are not produced here means that very shortly after a complete SHTF I would be without them, and while I only have maybe one or 2 drinks a week, it is one of those unexplainable pleasures that I can enjoy at the moment.

Peanut butter ice cream is mine. Love the stuff.
A nice cold can of rum would be up there too.

I am a huge fan of Glenfiddich myself, it is in fact my scotch of choice and I enjoy it either with an ice cube or some icy soda water. What I would miss most though, if we are just talking the trivial things it would have to be breakfasts out with the Mrs.
Great thread thereth.

I prefer mead but that's easy to make so I guess it don't count, most of what I like can be made or found. One way or an other I could get what I like, so I'm really not sure how I would answer this. Maybe I would miss things like TV or the internet ? Nah I could very easily do without them... I really don't think I would miss any of the lil things.

Okay I'm gonna sound like a massive girl... but I guess it's just my time of the month.
I'll miss online shopping, going out for breakfast, steaming hot showers and the feel of fresh sheets.
Editted to redeem myself: What I won't miss because I'll still be able to enjoy. The sound diamond sharpeners make, the smell of cordite and adrenaline. There is no drug as good as adrenaline.

Access to the world. Be it Internet news and forums or the fact that travel is relatively cheap we now have access that was not available even 20 years ago. In the 60's and 70's if you knew someone who had been on a plane more especially overseas they had a certain status. Now days flights are just busses with wings.
Back to the thread. Losing the ability to access information, cultures and friends.

I would firstly miss people. By that I mean certain people who would no longer be contactable, not people in general who generally give me the .....
I would also miss convenience (in a grid down scenario) - right now I can fill the kettle with filtered water from the tap, flick a switch and make a cuppa. Post crunch, this would involve getting firewood (previously prepared), lighting a fire, using previously prepared & stored water, and boil the water. The same goes for heating some food - stoves & microwaves wouldn't work. So many little jobs would be so much harder.

I'd have to agree with people, the ones who would suddenly be uncontactable, most of my family live interstate, which means that a crash of the power, phone, Internet etc would render them out of touch and out of reach. Other than that, I've been sitting here wondering what I'd miss, and I thin maybe I'd miss.....nah, I wouldn't miss that, and so on. There is honestly nothing that I can think of. When the time comes im sure I'll be thinking, I miss a hole swag of things. But ultimately everything I thought of is materialistic and I'm not that way inclined.
