Today i was invited by some friends to explore a disused "Aquaduct" at Greystanes NSW which was built in 1888 and ceased operation in 1983. You can see the actual aquaduct where water used to flow but is now used as a cycle path. The aquaduct did not work as it was supposed to so a large water syphon was built next to the path to facilitate the transport of water to the other side. Access to the syphon tunnel was across metal grates, steps and down ladders to reach the bottom. Then a walk of 250 metres to the base of the exact same "castle"at the other end. I had no idea that such a thing existed out here in western sydney let alone Australia. The only aquaducts i knew of was the ones in history books that the Romans built. It was fascinating to explore this piece of Aussie history and marvel at the stonemasons craftsmanship.

Hmmm... those would make good temporary or even permanent bug out locations (if you can secure it enough)

Hmmm... those would make good temporary or even permanent bug out locations (if you can secure it enough) So long as it doesn't flood when it rains

Driving back home today from Newcastle i decided to make a quick detour to Catherine Hill Bay and explore the old coal loader wharf. Its been on the to do list for a while but for some reason i never got to it. Funnily enough when i arrived at the entrance to the loader the local kids had found a panel had come loose from the gate They were jumping from the platform and making the long swim back to the beach to do it all again. This is also on my to do list. I'm just a boy trapped in a middle aged mans body!!!! So in i went to explore the cabins and walk to the end of the wharf because i could The long walk I hope so !!!!!! Cabins, Possible overnighter. Should be a great spot to watch the sunrise.
