I enjoy all facets of prepping and survivalism so for me it was a natural progression from bush craft and camping to Urban exploration of abandoned buildings as just another tool in the toolkit in the SHTF scenario. Apart from the recon and logistics of breaching i find the research and history of any structure i enter fascinating. My first offering is a local structure named the "Castle" The "Castle was built by a guy who called his wife his "Queen" After the war he said he was going to build her a castle. He used to bring a load of bricks up from Sydney every weekend to build a little more each week. Unfortunately she died of cancer and he lost interest in the building and died soon after. The house didnt pass building codes as it was rumored he used sea water from Tuggerah lakes in his mortar mix which caused the Reo bars to rust. There is a cyclone fence around the property and the neighbours on either side are vigilant of trespassers. The house directly across the road owns the property and will not hesitate to call the cops. So i got in quick took a few pics and got back out. Hope everyone finds them interesting

Thanks Guys, Rem, You would be surprised how many abandoned buildings, factories you will find in your area. Just take a camera and explore the outside if your not sure of the inside. Reading up on the local history of your area can be quite interesting as well. A yellow safety vest and a clipboard is your passport into these places without question from nosey neighbours.

Have you ever seen Ward 21 out Morrisset way? Its the original mental ward, a few kms inland from the current one. Ive been there a few times. Starting to get fairly run down now but still so very interesting! Also an old pistol range not to far away. According to some stories, it was very convenient lol

Squatters huts Dobroyd head Sydney
These huts were made after WW2 by some very enterprising individuals who fashioned huts using the existing cliff face, caves and scavenged materials to build their homes. They were survivalists and didnt even know it The homes were actually lived in until the the late 80's when local residents above the cliffs complained that these squatters should be thrown out since they did not pay the land rates that they had to pay for their view. The squatters were then forcibly removed by police and the huts were handed over to NPWS to oversee as a heritage site. The area has a full time caretaker to prevent theft and vandalism. These arent my photos, they were taken by a mate of mine who explored the site with me on the day. This view of the area from Google images

Wow. .. That looks awesome! These pics were taken there, back when i was tinkering more with my photography. Corridor in main building. Outer walkway (these were completely caged in with wire mesh, Like a "run" for the inmates) Each door to the right was into a 3mx3m cell. It also has a large in ground pool and pool area. This was the only real pic i took that could find. Sorry Res-Q for the thread hi-jack mate.

As mentioned it hasnt been opened for quite a long time. That pic was taken the moment i stepped into the room, no tidying up on my part. The bunker was totally dark, headlamps were needed. The photo was taken on flash and what you see is what i saw when i first stepped into that room. How did i find it?. This stuff is out there on public records, heritage sites, etc. Google and google maps are powerful friend s. Cant show anymore pics Aus, They show the team at work
