Our snow peas are about finished, ended up with 5 or 6 sandwich bags full of them. Have also picked heaps of lettuce lately, but letting some go to seed now.

I spilled a whole lot of chia seeds transferring them into jars today, so all the ones that ended up on the floor are going to go into the garden. Apparently I'm meant to sow late Summer to Autumn, but thought I'd give it a shot now anyway. I've got some chia growing in the garden, started it about 2 months ago. It's about a foot tall now and doing well. I really hope it keeps going and seeds!

I ended up shaking the stalks into a large bowl and then spent a fair bit of time, trying to blow the light chaff off!

Tomatoes are growing strong, many flowers on them now, lettuce and spinach also are doing well and my pumpkins are just getting started, I also put in a whole heap of potatoes recently. All the herbs are doing well too.
While I was digging in the garden to plant my potatoes I discovered some potatoes under the soil there ready to eat, no indication of their presence on the surface though so it was a very lucky find.

Cheers Chris I'd love to see pics and progress reports on the grafting if you get around to it! I tried it after my lime tree died but the root stock survived. It didn't work because the bark on the rootstock was really thin and I couldn't get it to peel properly. The grafts my friend gave me were diseased though so maybe a blessing in disguise?

Grapes are coming on nicely! Bunches all over the vine, which is good. We are just about over the berries. Capsicum is growing well, a few small brussel sprouts and a few other bits and pieces. Hubby has not had a great deal of time lately to put into the garden.

Spent the Xmas/New Year break to dig over the vegie patch and replant (was a bit neglected over Nov/Dec due to other distractions). Now have watermelon, strawberries, corn, capsicum, tomatoes, spinach, lettuce, shallots and carrots growing. Harvested the last of the potatoes (yum!)
Herb wise, now have basil, coriander, parsley, lemon grass, rosemary, chives, oregano, and thyme.
Also planted a passionfruit vine and for the first time, 2 grape vines. Keen to see how they go.
Considering moving some natives to a different section of the garden so I can grow more fruit trees - only have a small orange at present, but would love to have apple, lemon etc. Any recommend some fast growing trees?

There was a grape vine here when I moved in, only it's on a small 1m by 1m trellis, this is the first year it's produced fruit. On our own trellis' we've got five passionfruits that have yet to produce any viable fruit and two more grape vines that are off-cuts of the original. Four citrus trees, one orange and three mandarins one in the garden and the others in pots.

A few years ago I picked up a chilli plant at a market. It had beautiful red chillis that looked like perfect juicy tomatoes. Seller said it was a tomato chilli. I bought two plants. When I cut open the ripe red chilli the seeds were black not white. A quick Google and it turns out it is a manzanno/rocotto. It is a tree chill and the one in the photo is about 3 years old. It was heavily pruned and transplanted when I moved here. It is one of the most cold resistant of chillis but it is not frost tolerant when young. It produces for a really long period, sometimes six months. It is very hot and requires very little to heat a dish. Think of habanero but rocotto is not quite as hot. I will let you know when I have seeds if anyone wants them. .

This is our kitchen garden as of this morning. Here we are growing broad and French beans, eggplant, tomato, radish, swede, lettuce, capsicum, chilli, cucumber, Thai and Sweet basil, leeks, onions, cabbage, cauliflower, Asian greens, kiwifruit, kale, celery, beets, spinach, and pineapples. There is also a raised bed of carrots, spring onions and radish that's hiding behind the row of comfrey. The sickly looking yellow shite is some not-so-RoundUp-proof kikuyu - we're extending the garden. There is also a larger garden at the tea of this pic which has all our potatoes, asparagus and Jerusalem artichokes growing, and behind that even further in the paddock I have a 1/16 acre plot of maize and sorghum (pig fodder and clucker tucker. To the right of the pic are four cut-down gal rainwater tanks that grow zucchini and brassicas and on the fence line still further right I have peas and brown onions. There is a small orchard you can see towards the rear of the pic and behind that on the fence line we grow cane berries, and besides the full-size apricot all the orchard trees are dwarf stock. The other side of the green shed is the main orchard of full-size trees (and strawberries, pumpkins, squash and broad beens). Along the back of the house we have sunflowers (more clucker tucker), strawberries, table grapes, herbs, horseradish, edible cannas (Arrowroot). More fruit trees are down the front yard along with Shiraz grapes. I think that's all we have growing at the moment. Planning to expand to a lot more production later this year by taking over the back paddock to crops like: oats, maize, sorghum, potatoes, onions, sweetcorn, peas, beans, etc and maybe even more comfrey. And lots of green manure crops to feed the soil, the compost, the chooks, and the worm farms. Cheers all from Veg.

Vegie garden is going along nicely - after all the rain this week, the corn has just shot up! Looking to increase the number of beds in autumn.
Planted some chia seeds, elderberry seeds and goji seeds today - more long term crops but will be interested to see how well they grow from seed.

Possums have decided to hang around above my veggies and excrete a thick black urine tar like all over them. Birds decided to eat my tomatoes, I managed to salvage some which will have to finish ripening on the window sill.
Lessons learned the easy way, while I am not relying on this food for survival.

No good about the possums Dan, they are a pain in the arse.
We currently have nothing in our garden except one very ill looking lemon tree. The previous owners of a our place built the garden beds, but never filled them with soil, so this weekend has been spent weeding, clearing and digging up the old beds ready for some new dirt.
