I'm bloody sick of my federally mandated super just continually being eroded by fees and charges, even while it drops in value. Let alone taxes in and taxes out.....

Do what i did AKM, get out of your industry fund and get yourself a Self Managed Super Fund. Now i dont pay outrageous fees to fund managers who sit on their arse and do nothing and collect their commission whether the market goes up or down. I'm already in front. Its the ideal situation for preppers and survivallists as you can use the fund to buy that land or property to bug out to. NOTE: (There are rules to what and how you buy) But i prefer to have tangible assests in case of a banking collapse and mainly to do what i want with MY MONEY!!!!!!!
Heres a link to the one i use. esuperfund.com.au/ Theres plenty more out there so do your research.

The day I hit 55 I took all my super out, same with the missus (we both had < $145k). I don't trust the bastards not to either lose it or force you to take an annuity.

Yeah, I fully expect(and have since they brought it in) that successive .Govs will use it as a cash cow to borrow from. Now, it's do your own super, so we don't have to pay your pension. Later it will be, Lend us your super(we are taking it anyway) and we will pay you a pension later. I only have about 70K, so a SMSF is only just becoming a possibility now for me. Am starting to look seriously at it though, especially in regards to a rural property that I can throw up a cheap shed house on.

Its a myth you need lots of money to have a SMSF. That link i provided will show you as little as 20K will do it for you AKM.
