Was just wondering how much time people spend on their tasks or how much time they spend thinking about preps? Do you feel you are doing enough or do you want to step it up a notch? What do you feel you need to be doing or can be doing at the moment? If you don't have the money at the moment, what can or are you doing now to be better prepared?

Not as much time at the moment as I would like.
Doing a fair bit of thinking and researching at present. We are moving house in a couple of months so trying to keep the amount of stuff to move to a minimum. Have a few plans in the pipeline for after our move though!
Besides thinking, time is being spent sorting out gear (and throwing out anything old/useless), helping in the vege patch and starting on packing up the house.

I seem to think about my preps several times a day! Always wondering how i can improve things, what still needs to be purchased, what skills I need to learn still! I really need to work some more on security and first aid stuff! I want to do another lights out practise but for longer than a weekend. Still want to rethink my BOB as I am not happy with it.

The wife and I spend a fair bit of time planning, money is of course the limiting factor, so budgeting is high on our priority list always, research comes second, lists come third, then obviously learning new skills (survival, medical, cooking, preserving).
We are also constantly looking at how we can minimise our footprint, so if things go south we can bug out with what we have now, not what we would like in the future.
My wife has a small business on line, so she is constantly looking for the cheapest prices for all our gear, (pensioners need to watch every cent).
But for us, it is a central part of our lifestyle. Which reminds me of a saying: most people spend more time planning and preparing for their next holiday than they do for where they will be in the next five years, which is why most people are broke all the time.

Its a 24/7 lifestyle for me. As members know i dont have a rural property but a bugout location. So I've been up and and checked on the citrus trees mates and i planted up at our bugout location. We found we need chicken wire around them to stop the "locals"nibbling at the new shoots. Dragging a bag of readymix to site to repair our mini dam and BBQ area. Where trying to make this place as comfortable as possible. So we found an old plastic picnic table and chairs on a council pick up that will go up next week. The brief has always been everything up their is scavenged and can be left or dumped at a moments notice if OPSEC is breached. Picked up an old OXY VIVA from a mate with spare Hudson masks and spare O2 bottles for FREE Purchased a new bivvy sack and inflatable mat to try out. Moving away from hammock camping and going back to ground and tarp set up. Will need to go for a dew overnighters to test whether a wool blanket or my minus 3 bag is better or more compact option for my pack. I Lay awake at night redesigning my BOB / GO bag in my head with a modular pack system that can be used in multiple environments such as Urban / Bush / overseas that does not scream 5:11 tactical or military Nearly there and will post up pics soon I've been slack in not rotating and using old food stock. Off to Bunnings this week to buy some PVC and make some more cache tubes. While at work i scour survivalist sites and youtube for new tips and ideas to tryout. It may seem like I'm obsessed but i dont let all the shit happening around the world get to me. Like that old ad campaign used to say "Be alert but not alarmed" For me it's Boy scouts for grown ups

I've found that closing my facebook account has given me an extra half hour to an hour each day that was really being wasted. I now use that time reading. For example, I've gone through a number of prep-specific books, plus other books I have covering topics such as gardening, snares & traps, nutrition & cooking, a very interesting book on small space living (interesting ideas when applied to concealed storage), etc. It's amazing how easily one forgets information once it's been ignored for a year or two.

We spend probably 1 day in 7 organising, planning, researching, shopping etc., but for me personally maybe 24/7 We have had a quiet week this week with hubby's back, but tomorrow I'm going to tackle our 'important papers' and get them copied and laminated, something I have been putting off. We decided before getting too far into food storage we would go to Bunnings and look at the shelves to take the food. We chose the 5 tier model that has a support bar under each shelf for strength. They were $78 each and we purchased 2 to start with and have added another recently. We also got the food grade buckets and they are $10 ea on sale ATM. The shelves allow you to see in an instant what you have and rotating is made easy. I really didn't want to spend money on the shelves - but as new preppers it was the best investment we think we have made at the beginning of our journey. We love garage sales and you can pick up a bargain for your prepping, but make a list before you go. This weekend is the Annual Garage Sale Trail which is Australia wide. www.garagesaletrail.com.au/ You can search under your location and it gives a map and address so you can plan ahead.
