Hey guys, I have purchased a 10w Solar Lighting kit from www.commodoreaustralia.com.au. I have only just received it and plugged it in to charge (im cheating and using 240v to charge instead of the solar panel) but so far build quality looks good. It has 4x 12dv ports as well as the standard USB charging slots. I only got the smallest one (10w and 7ah battery) to test the companies build quality and whatnot and will be gifting it off to get the bigger 30w & 28ah unit. I will be updating this thread once it is charged and tested tonight Photo uploading not working, here is a dropbox link to some photos www.dropbox.com/sc/jrsopbwdignh6be/AABD-LfmHnIrOebCChiyYjzfacommodoreaustralia.com.au/product/10w-solar-light-kit/

Hi Thereth
Would be most interested to here how this unit performs. Had a quick look at their site and they also seem to have a good range of off grid packages. I already have a 3kw system but it is on grid, I am thinking of getting an off grid system that would allow me to run say freezer and fridge should the grid go down. My knowledge in this area is basic so am happy to take any advice as to the best way to go.
Thanks

Well small update on this. I charged the unit yesterday and put all 4 globes on for 2 hours. Power indicator only went down by 20%.
Since then I have had one globe (3w led) on since 4pm yesterday arvo and the battery is only half empty! Thr light is also sufficient to read in a 3x3m (ish) bedroom and lights up a 6x5m room enough to see everything fine but I wouldnt read off it.
I will be leaving this single globe on until the 24 hour mark and will see how much charge is left.
Oh and I didn't recharge after the initial 2 hour test with all 4 globes

well 24 hours have passed and according to the lights it still has between 40 and 60% charge left, so as far as lighting goes this little unit gets a very big thumbs up from me.
I will be charging my phone over the next couple of days, not so much to see if it does charge it several times, as i know it will, but to see how fast it charges it (draw)
But without confirming how long itll last, i must admit I am very happy with this little unit and will defnitely be buying the 30w one to see if i can graduate to charging laptops AND having lights on at night from standard solar charging, but thatll be an xmas one.
Stay safe everyone!

Thanks for the review. How much would this kit weigh? How long will a battery like this last? Certainly will look into it

Another option without the battery that is good for charging phones/CB radio. A 6W unit will generates about 12Wh/day during winter, and 36Wh/day during winter. I've now got large zip lock bags to put everything in to keep things dry when I'm charging. 6W, Size: approx. 17.5 x 11cm(Folded) Net weight: 270g $26.20 www.ebay.com.au/itm/351681328615Further info see my solar link in my link 'useful links' just below. There's obviously other fold out panels also.

The battery wasnt to bad, i swapped it out for a larger one about 12 months back. It is currently being used to run my electric fence but it hasnt failed on me at all.
