Did you hear about this Vet in Oakey Queensland who wrote a letter of encouragement to the Farmers of Queensland via his Facebook page? In 10 hours he has had 110,000 viewers. Dr David Pascoe is a Farmer and a Vet. His Father is considered one of Australia's greatest horse breeders. Dr Pascoe, like many "cow cockies" know the land. They read it. They breathe it. They watch for the tell tale signs and now after 7 long years, they are witnessing it. Rain, big rain is on it's way, finally.
"RAIN IS COMING - SOON.
Never mind the weather bureau, the long range forecaster and the fancy computer program.
Because there is rain coming - and its going to be big.
how do we know? because all the signs are there, the ones that weather bureaus and fancy computer programs have no knowing about. These old signs have been passed down through the generations of pioneers and bushmen in our families - and we were taught how to read them.
The new moon was on the tip, and the wind has blown in from the north all week, even at night. its stinking hot and the frogs make a holy green chorus at midnight. the ants have moved into our kitchen and the humidity makes you feel as if you have a smokin' hot samba dancer sharing your jeans.
The bauhinia is in bloom in Central Queensland, the cactus are in bloom at Bundaberg, the rocks are running water high along the great divide.
update: AND we heard the storm bird the other night and the reports are flooding in about black cockies turning up everywhere across the north in droves - GO THE BLACK COCKIES!
update: Black cockies sighted as far as Tenterfield - and when the emus and kangaroo's start having babies in a really bad drought you know that rain is coming. nature is much smarter than we are!
update: and we are hearing from our mates in the bush - DINGO PUPS ARE BEING BORN! The Kangaroo, the emu and the dingo know the bush they evolved in and survive in far better than we humans will ever dream - and they are having their babies, ready for a big new wet season. You just have to love nature!
update: everyone is telling us about a special tree out near Taroom that's suddenly in full bloom - and it hasn't bloomed for seven years and it was followed by good soaking rains. "
update: from one of our comments : ...The jacaranda trees have flowered early, magpies have four chicks this year, last time that happened it flooded around Queensland. Ants, tick, black cockies, tick, snakes active, tick. Storm bird, tick. Going to buy a rowboat. Also wallaby mother has twins just coming out of the pouch.
update: another comment - Also heard they are catching fish in the west with rowe in them, another sign, of good rains, yes bring it on, any time now will be good
Hope is a fortune, right across the bush.
No prayer goes unanswered. Stay strong.
