Most Australians, including our dearest and nearest, either have no idea what is going on in the world or don't want to know what's going on in the world. We recently (after months of hinting) had a 'confrontation' with our daughter regarding prepping. Hubby and I went thru the 'if only we had started earlier', hadn't gone on that expensive holiday', 'hadn't bought our onsite' etc. etc. but after reflecting I believe that prior to now, we would not have had the life experiences we go thru to bring us out the other side to prepare us - and our family - for this journey we now find ourselves on. The urgency grows in getting prepared but also carrying a burden for those that exist outside our immediate family. Those family members (Aunts, Uncles, cousins etc. and close friends) will have to wait until we feel confident that our immediate family are taken care of or an opportunity arises to show them why we are prepping.
We were sitting at the dining table and we were having our weekly visit from our daughter and her partner. She is a child of the 80s, spoilt for choices, is well travelled, has had a broken marriage and has been employed in a government job for over 10 years. She has not experienced high inflation, high mortgage rates and high unemployment. Her job has exposed her to unions that stoke fires of resentment against the government and it can be a bone of contention with my son as he has worked really hard - in the private sector - to get where he is. Recently has had to take on extra work as our DIL is pregnant and has had to cut her hours back due to an extra bone in her shoulder region which is causing her much pain and this will need surgery after bub is born.
My son rings me every couple of days and as we were closing the call I casually asked 'what were they up to this weekend'. 'I'm going to be fitting 38 hours into 2 days Mum'. He has found a second job - and he as never been out of work - so DIL can rest her painful arms and shoulders and cut her hours way back. I'm so proud of him. He's just like his Father- hard workers - and I'm so grateful for that. He knew that to help his wife, he would need to work longer hours. His Father did it for us when we had just had our newborn when mortgage rates went to 18%, but many GenYs will be really caught off guard when SHTF because life as been blissfully easy for them.
My daughter stiffened as we started to talk about prepping. Us Mums know our children so well and she sarcastically said something about zombies. I calmly said, no, 'but what if YOU loose your job'? With that she burst into tears. She suddenly realised that we were not just prepping for the end of society as we know it, but were prepping if in fact a more realistic and probably scenario that she or her brother lost their jobs. We, even on our limited finances, could at least give them some food.
Hubby tends to keep quiet as I'm usually the opinionated one! He then took the opportunity to explain that just 9 months ago he had no idea how bad things were, not just overseas, but that it will affect us here in Australia too. He explained to her how TPTB (the powers that be) are manoeuvring to bring down the US$ and this week it is starting to play out before us with the drop in price of oil, the drop in gold/silver and China & Russia jockeying for a new WORLD currency to replace the US$.
The sad part is that the average person doesn't care, doesn't want to know, believes the media and fails to see the signs around them. Listen closely to warnings from 'those in the know' with trigger words like "housing bubble" "rates on hold" "BRICS". But the greatest signs are coming out of the USA and you will hear NOTHING about what is happening there. When the US goes, Australia will go with her. If one parent lets the other parent do all the talking, this can be seen as a one sided argument, but by joining forces to get your combined message across, it will let your children know you are a united front.

FEMA and DHS are not about serving the needs of the American people; These agencies are about preserving the status quo of the powers that be. As the TV show by the same name, there are literally a 1,000 ways to die. The following seven events represent some of the most likely events which would mortally wound our society.

3. World War III
4. EMP attack
5. Economic collapse
6. Military coup resulting in civil war
7. Pandemic
AMERICA'S LEVEL OF PREPAREDNESS: (Substitute US for OZ)
A brief summation of the Adelphi study reveals the following:
44% don’t have first-aid kits
48% lack emergency supplies
53% do not have a minimum three-day supply of nonperishable food and water at home
55%. believe local authorities will come to their rescue if disaster strikes
This means that 56% of those with first-aid kits, 52% of those with emergency supplies, and 47% of those who have more than three days worth of water, will be victimized by those who have not properly planned. Please allow me to put this into a real number for you. Over 130 million teenagers and adults will be in the streets seeking to obtain life-sustaining resources in a very short time following the disaster event. This is a train wreck starting to happen.
TIME FRAME FOR SOCIETAL BREAKDOWN:
Those that would be fortunate enough to survive the initial event, or series of events, would face the following timetable of events.
In the first one to two days, all shelves would be emptied of food, water, guns and medical supplies. There will be no resupply as nothing will be shipped.
On the beginning of the third day, individuals will be in the streets scavenging for anything they can find that will keep themselves and their families alive. If there is a loss of power, many will die as a result of exposure to the elements.
By the fifth day, desperate people will organize into collectives (i.e. gangs) and will go house to house looking for stored supplies from the half that has somewhat prepared. Neighborhoods will begin to organize themselves into local vigilante groups for protection from local gangs who have become desperate. This is the day that many of the police walked off the job in New Orleans (Cyclone Katrina) in order to protect their families. Groups of police could become the most dangerous groups in society.
In the days that follow, nobody can be trusted. There will be people who will dress up in official looking uniforms (e.g. military, national guard, police) in order to gain entry into a fortified home.
The game changing event will be a civil war. Not only will you have to deal with marauding hordes of resource deficient people, you could also be caught in the crossfire between two, or more warring armies.
CASUALTY RATES:
1. World War III. The casualty estimates dating back to the 1960’s and 1970’s related to an all-out nuclear war was placed at 150 million Americans or at 80-85%.
2. False flag attack as a result of a series of nuclear explosions. The casualty rate is indeterminable and would depend of the number of cities involved and their relative populations and the size and placement of the nuclear device. Generally speaking, one nuclear device in a city the size of Phoenix would kill 20,000 to 100,000 people. Many more would die in the upcoming weeks due to the effects of radiation.
3. False flag attack as a result of a chemical and biological attack. The casualty rates are indeterminable but past pandemics have wiped out one-third to 40% of a society.
4. EMP attack. The Naval War College tells us that within two years of a power grid take down, that 90% of us would be dead.
5. Military coup resulting in civil war. The casualty rates of war as well as civilians victimizing each other would be impossible to calculate. Conservative estimates would place the rate at 5% to 25%.
6. Economic collapse. It is impossible to exactly determine. I think a safe bet would place this event in the category of a false flag “cyber attack” upon Wall Street and the Banking system. Or, the world totally moves away from the Petrodollar causing our currency to hyper-inflate. The resulting casualty rates would be difficult to calculate. The government would be able to establish order following a brutal crackdown. However, in our weakened state, we would be inviting an invasion. A civil war could break out as well.
CONCLUSION:
At minimum, there is an economic collapse in our near future with the massive debt which is unsustainable. The presence of the NDAA and EO 13603 speaks to the government’s plans to deal forcefully with any disturbances. The preparation by DHS is unmistakable with its acquisition of over two billion rounds of ammunition and 2700 armored personnel carriers. And when we see foreign troops (e.g. the Russians and the Chinese), we should all be gravely concerned. To the 55% who are clueless, take out an insurance policy and begin to store food, water guns and ammunition. To everyone else, who has at least some idea of what is going on, begin to reach out to your neighbors because you will need the additional safety that numbers can bring.
The time is NOW to reach out to those your hold close. If nothing happens what have you lost? A new car? A big trip overseas? A new bathroom/kitchen? But, could you live thru a disaster knowing that your children/grandchildren were among those targeted by groups of vigilantes? In my case, you may as well bury me too because my family is why I do what I am doing and deep down if you are viewing this website you feel the same.
Christmas is coming. Maybe take the opportunity to visit one of the businesses on this site to buy some long term food; put a small emergency kit together; or build something - like a solar oven - "and tell your loved ones it's there if you loose power". Do anything to trigger a conversation to show them how close we are to that collapse. There are tons of articles in the US and UK prepper sites - but although we can gleen much, Australia is unique inasmuch that we are not witnessing the worrying signs of people having their rights taken away like in America and we can be thankful for that.

We are not witnessing the 'nanny state' here, but we could have. And don't forget, if America goes, Australia will join her whether you believe this or not. Conditioned in seeing militarised police on their streets and conditioned in being arrested for the most insignificant thing.
Who would have thought that it is becoming a crime to wave the American flag; pray in a park or hold Bible study in your home; have the local Mayor in Houston demand that the pastors of churches submit their sermons before Sunday so they can be vetoed; that you cannot in some schools at a school board meeting speak past 2 minutes to raise concern about a pornographic book their 14yo child was made read without being arrested; that laws have been passed that you cannot feed the hungry; that in some states you cannot grow your own fruit and vegetables or sell the excess; who would have thought that you cannot buy ammunition because panicked Americans have bought it all. And who would have thought that all police carry child handcuffs. But it is happening and on a much, much greater scale. It's happening and people fear their government.
