Ingredients
2-4 lb. ground chuck (1-2kg beef mince) 4 cans tomato sauce ( about 1.6kg using size of average can of vegies ) 1 medium can tomato paste
1 large can tomatoes ( or 2 420g diced tomatoes ). 3-4 Tbs. chili powder
1 large onion
4 cans chilli beans
1-2 tsp. hot sauce (I use Texas Pete but any kind will do)
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
In pan cook meat and onion. Drain grease. Add 1 can tomato sauce and 1 Tbs. chili powder. In large pot add 3 cans tomato sauce, can of tomatoes, tomato paste, 2 Tbs. chili powder and salt and pepper. Cook on medium heat. Add 4 cans chili beans and the meat and onion mixture you cooked in the beginning. You can add more chili powder and hot sauce to your taste. Let simmer on low heat 2-5 hours. The longer it cooks the better it is I think.

This sounds good Jay. How do you think it would go in a slow cooker?

This sounds good Jay. How do you think it would go in a slow cooker? I was just thinking the same thing! I am making chilli con carne today in my slow cooker.

Looks like I will have to get a new Slow cooker, last one died earlier this year *sob* I would be devastated! Lucky I have an electric one and an old fashioned crock pot that can go in my oven or on the stove, so I'd have an emergency back up

Jay I only have one question, where does the drained grease go? as I'd prefer to eat it.

I've heard a lot of good things about the multi-use appliances - the slow cooker/deep fryer/rice cook/pressure cook/some other thing/etc. That'll be the next appliance we buy. Although I question how we'd fit a bunch of lamb shanks in there...

Sir Pete, I defy you to not be able to do all of that in a cast iron dutch oven. Well except the pressure cooking

No, more like this:http://www.blackandstone.com.au/pgs_vis/pgs_ha/BSMC800-multi-cooker.html#.VIThHMsZ7qA I have a Thermomix, and I think it's hugely overrated. IMHO.
