Everyone knows one of these people, they already have everything or they simply don't want anything new. I got my mum this year "Clean Drinking Water" from gifts.worldvision.com.au/#!/home Have a browse and consider that maybe the majority of the money spent on Christmas gifts is a huge waste, if everyone put half of that money into causes like this every year we could change the world.

I read the title and thought "more ammo". However these donations on behalf of people are also a nice idea.

We do this for most of our family, but I prefer Oxfam Unwrapped- unwrapped.oxfam.org.au/ Their cards are pretty funny, and also I believe Oxfam is non-denominational.

Nice insight, I also like Oxfam and was fairly cheesed off when the Oxfam store closest to me closed down.

We sponsor some kids through Compassion, and on Friday evening we attended a get together where they demonstrated a similar thing: old.compassion.com.au/product.php?intid=447Agreed, so long as it's through a reputable organisation, it's a fantastic thing to do.

I'd love to visit our sponsor child (through Compassion). We're currently on our fourth sponsor child - the first three moved out of the areas covered by the program.

We've had two graduate out of the program (one went into their Leadership Development Program), and last year one of our kids died which was really tragic. But it's a great work and so rewarding if you do ever get the chance to visit. Where is your current child Pete?

Indonesia. My first (before Mrs Pete and I were dating) was in Thailand, the next (after the boss and I were engaged) was in Burkina Faso, the next was in Brasil, and the current young man is not far from Denpasar . I'd love to hear one day that a child we've sponsored has broken the poverty cycle. We live in hope...
