Have you noticed medicinal herbs growing in your local environment and wanted to know more about them and how to use them?!
This workshop is an in-depth exploration of five local, sustainable and medicinal ‘plant allies’ growing in your environment.
Alongside the medicinal properties of the plants we will cover the vital subject of wild crafting ethics, protocol and stewardship. You will also learn how to conduct qualitative research on these plants. 9am – 4pm: Introduction to Herbal Medicine with Jayne Azzopardi
This workshop is an amazing opportunity to learn how to make medicine with plants that you can find wild or easily grown in your own garden. You’ll make infusions, tinctures, vinegars, oil infusions and balms. You will take home your own balms, handouts and leave with the skills to make your very own first aid kit.
In this workshop you will learn
· Different approaches to herbal medicine
· Safe ways of using and making herbal medicine
· Traditional ways of detecting medicinal properties in plants
· Scientific language and terminology within Western Herbal Medicine.
· The art of extracting by infusions, tinctures, vinegars, and oils
· The benefits and limitations of a variety of medicinal preparations
Together, we will learn the fundamentals of medicine making in a fun and relaxed environment. You will be given the opportunity to taste and explore the differences in preparations and will gain the benefit of discussing and sharing this journey in a group environment.
Jayne Azzopardi is a qualified herbalist who uses herbal remedies in everyday life and work and is passionate about community based medicine, empowering people to make their own herbal remedies.
