I was going through my computer tonight and found some old excel spreadsheets I did up yeas ago when I first starting prepping and before I had any interaction with other preppers (even via the net).... all I can say is thank God the shit didnt hit the fan then, I would be dead in a week!!!
Some of the ridiculous things I wanted, the minimal number of other things (apparently 500rd .22lr and 250rds 12ga would be enough?).... it is damn near heartbreaking.
Also the amount of crap I wanted to fit into my BOB, i would need to bring a trailer along with me, and the worst part..... I only had 1 kid when this was written, I now have 3 and probably have about half the amount of stuff in my BOB and theirs.
It amazes me how far I have come, and shows me how far I have yet to go when I am constantly learning new things from you guys and makes me appreciate having a solid group of like minded people to bounce ideas off.
Have any of you guys had a reminder of your tender days of prepping youth? Any big purchases or plans that in retrospect make zero bloody sense?
For me, out of all of it, the worst seemed to be the complete lack of first aid supplies. oh I thought I was clever and had basic gauze, bandaids and the like, as well as some painkillers, anti inflammatries and antihistamines.... but thats it, nothing more then you find in a badly stocked medicine cabinet.

[/quote] Well I still remember the 3 days prepping goal (yep 3 days) but overkilled it, even with 3 days i was good for a few weeks... Also bug out plans and introduction of bobs, those were only introduced to me in forums (be nearly 18 months now) But... The running to the hills concept, would be one of the dumbist plans i have made, no bobs/inch, no real plan for supplies, no real hope in hell to survive lol, those were the days....
