This is just for fun! You are building a team to help you in your post SHTF world, you only have enough food and resources to supply 5 other people. From the below list of occupations, which 5 would you take based on their skills etc. All occupations have been selected by an online career generator, so I did not pick these myself. Please explain why you have chosen the way you have. 1) Choir Director 2) Shingles Roofer 3) Aircraft Engine Specialist 4) Student Loan Correspondent 5) Lock Fitter 6) Hair and Makeup Designer 7) Optometric Technologist 8) Vehicle Body Sander 9) Cryptologic Technician Operator/Analyst 10) Key Maker

2 3 5 8 10, Reason all of the above work with there hands, This is a personal thing, being able to work with your hands is a must for getting things done. I know a lot of very smart people, but they cannot work with there hands so they are no good to me. anyway thats my choice.

Paul I am on the same page as paul, these 5 jumped out at me immediately for that exact reason. The others are literally some of the most useless skills people could have in a SHTF scenario

Same for me except I take 9 instead of 8 as crypto logic tech is a us navy designation ( wiki) and sanding is least trained of the manual handlers.

Of course any could be trained beyond the current job so I have to assume there is nothing more. Age would be more info req. the aircraft specialist might be 20 yo just finished apprenticeship and knows only how to change the tyres or he may have served in military when rolls Royce was a massive plane engine and be able to make a tigermoth with a can of paint and balsa wood. I know rambling now. No offence to 20 yo apprentices.

I would consider people on their individual merits rather than their occupation. I once employed an alleged carpenter who knew precisely stuff all about structure. I once employed an office assistant (with experience in paperwork) who could build stuff you wouldn't believe. It is dangerous - and will be more dangerous post-crunch - to assume people are truthful about their claimed skills. This is even more the case when someone claims to have mastered many different skillsets. graynomad being a notable exception, based on the photos and comments provided to date...

Any, I'm not fussy, as long as they agree with my one rule, I will bleed for your family, you better be willing to do the same for mine

I'm only trained in the application of force. However I try to dabble in as many other skills as possible.

No one wants the choir master? Having a sing along would be a great morale booster!

I'd just keep the food, unless any of them have a hobby that's useful.
