Here's the fertigation system I use. The venturi was sourced from eBay for about $30 inc postage. The short hose goes to the tap, the strainer into the barrel and the other end to a hose to feed the crops. This is one way to get the compost tea out there .... I used a thingy once that hubby rigged up where a wand with a rod was pushed in beside the plant (roses) at the ground level then travelled about 6" into the ground beside the plant which then allowed you to water the roots. This was really helpful in the heat of summer to get water to the roots.

Those spears sound really great for getting the water down to where you need them. I have a neighbour who's farm we are looking after at the moment for them, who is a fantastic steel worker so I might get him to knock up a few for me as 'payment'. Thanks for the info Matilda!
