I ran out of ply for the nest box lids but thought I'd post a pic anyway. This is a prototype but is currently in use. Next model is in the head until funds allow another build. It is moved by using a sack truck to 'pull' it into posi. The shade cloth now also has a tarp over it for all weather protection. The plan is to have multiple of these if I can find meat birds to chuck in them (see post in Homesteading). Ciao from the Veg (hey, I also eat meat ya know!!!)

None as I built this and bought that I used it for the geese ealy on to protect them from magpies etc. the first of that design had a brood box on the non door end and some wheels to move it, but this one was a budget model.

How cool are they? We must think alike as this is my main hen house, non-moveable of course. And this one is attached to my compost bay where the birds do the turning of the compost for me.
And thanks again for those rococo seeds

My own fault..... I had a chook drown yesterday. My troughs are used by geese as well. (1st) mistake. They splash out lots of water and foul it quickly. The lower level made it hard for the chook to get out when it fell in. I am going to change it now but a bit late for the poor chook. Worm tablet stuffed down its throat last week and drowned this week.

I'm constantly amazed at how many factors need to be considered with homesteading, keeping poultry, etc. All the more reason to start pre-crunch.

I have made so many mistakes with foxes, grubs, bugs and birds that I would have starved many times over. Even now I would only get to eat eggs potatoes, lamb, tomatoes and chilli. Clearly my skills need to expand considerably
