Bunnings sells cyclone kits? Obviously there isn't a demand for them in Perth.
Their (admittedly useless) website only shows sheds under a search for "cyclone kits", even if I enter my local store as Cairns.
Does anyone know what's in them?

Looks like we will all have to go back to the cast iron hotplates running off the 9kg lpg bottle, or just dust off the bbq in a blackout event.
As far as the bunnings cyclone kit, I imagine it would of been a small kit put together by the local store of a few essentials

The Bunnings web site is effing useless, I could only find a single PVC pipe a few months ago. I emailed them and told them is was crap,no reply I've used those cookers on a canoe trip down the Murray a few years ago, they work well but use a lot of gas, IIRC maybe a bottle per day. Ok for a cyclone, not great for prepping IMO.

i had a double cooker that I used, and the whole thing went up in flames - so it got ditched. I have a new double one - will try it this week, and 2 single ones, that have worked fine, and will hopefully continue to do so, as I have a LOT of canisters stored up!

We have avoided getting these, we were told they can have issues! I have a Kelly Kettle, which uses only small amounts of twigs, leaves etc It has an insert which you place over the fire base once you remove the kettle part, and then you can cook on that! You don't need to worry about storing bottles or cans of gas etc! For inside cooking we have some fondue spirit burners which we use with meth spirits, it will heat up a tinned food quite well! And I have cooked bacon and eggs on it as well!

+1 on a fire pit, can't beat cooking over coals
Sorry to stray off topic: How do you find the Kelly Kettle Rem? Been thinking about adding one to our travelling/camping box.

Geez. I'll have to remember to tell Hubby. We have quite a few canisters stored and I think 2 or more stoves that we have accumulated. I hate gas. It's great for cooking, heating and hot water etc. but I saw an old stove 'blow up' in a friends face at school when she lit it and it just scares me. That reminds me to put our gas heater in to get serviced before it gets cold. Thanks for letting us know stubbs.

Bunnings sell a butane cartridge light for those who have a pile of canisters like me. About $39

Paul All this is a bit strange, those things have been around for maybe 20 years, what's changed I wonder.

I think they are great, easy to use, you only need a small amount of fuel and it comes with some accessories and you can by others. Will boil water in 3-5 mins, and is lightweight! The only issue is that it is not compact and obviously you need to use it outdoors and you can't let it boil dry. There are three different sizes we got the medium size which does about 1.3 litres of water. I got it because I wanted a way to boil water quickly and with a small amount of fuel. We have since also got a Drovers Kettle and it does 6 litres.

Cheers Rem, they look handy. Not having to cart a couple of canisters around would be good

Yeah, the ones at our work got recalled as well. Of course they don't bother to tell the workers why, we just have to wait to either read it in the paper or trickle down the grapevine. Overheating? That happened at my 30th when somebody (me) left the lighter on the BBQ as it was cooking, loud bang and everyone jumped but thankfully no sharp or melted plastic landed on anyone.
The thing is that we just brought out a butane gas heater, wonder if those are going to be recalled eventually as well.

In short,...taken from channel 9 S.A news last night .
Of the 300 makes and types of Butane cookers for sale on the market only 25 have passed the testing of the pressure valve... and those 25 are still on the shelves and are permitted to be sold. The ruling body have said they "may" shortly announce a national recall of the 275 makes/types that had failed the testing, if so then everyone that has purchased one of those will be eligible for a refund! .
So don't go binning those stoves yet guys as we could be up for a refund
