You are stranded on a deserted island, which 4 of the following do you choose, and why?

What's the climate of the island? Temperate, tropical, polar, etc?

Assuming it's an island like in the movie cast away
I would go, knife Fire lighter tent or tarp Flare gun or mirror
Fire, shelter, weapon/tool, signal device simple.
If an extra item was allowed..

From the list;
Cast iron pot - carrying/storing water/cooking/boiling water for purification/potentially could make into a type of still with bamboo or other items found. Fishing line, I can use a little of the line [fishing line is super strong] for building shelter [which is why I'd have any kind of cordage] and it has major advantages over using some separated rope line and a hook made of shell. This would save your life in the longer term. Knife, essential. Matches, if you've ever tried to light fires with a stick, I think you have to choose this option. You would also have to keep the fire going and keep the matches dry.
I think you could keep a fire going all/most of the time [save matches] with a whole stack of green leaves kept nearby to signal and of course signal 3 X's on the sand with tree limbs etc. Shelter would be a pain not to have, but you can fasten something with the surrounding vegetation.

ok, so the knife, matches and pot jump out to me first off, however I would swap the matches for the first aid kit if it contained Potassium Permanganate and Glycerin.
The last one is a toss up between Fishing rod, Tent and Hiking boots
- Fishing rod benefits have been pointed out by Shinester above - Tent is pretty obvious - insta-shelter - Hiking boots- now this one is a little left field but bear with me, looking after your feet is a very important step, and not knowing what condition we are in during this scenario I would be more inclined to pick these, it would allow me to tranverse more of the island a lot safer than I could without them. Now i know we are all so tough and strong and don't need shoes etc, but fook that, the last thing I want is to be stuck on a desert island and have everything nicely set up, waiting for rescue and I step on a damn stonefish or something...... Foot care is very important and doubly so in this sort of situation

Hhhmmmmm decisions decisions
- Knife - Matches - Water purification thing if it can do sea water, if not I would probably go something else like the pot or FAK - Last choice is between fishing rod or the tent. Shelter or food source (well easier then spear fishing for me at least) that's a tough one.....

Knife - to fillet fish, protection Tarp - shelter from the sun and light reflections, also rain water catchment. Inflatable raft - to get to safety/another island Fishing rod - fish for food and water
If the island was tropical and had a bamboo forest I would add bamboo pipes to my inflatable raft to add as flotation back up. Use the vines to tie everything together especially my tarp in case of strong winds I can use it to sail. Fishing rod to catch as many fish for the journey to civilisation and to use as bait for bigger fish. To do all of this I would need a knife.

First aid kit - not only because I'm unco and likely to hurt myself, but because of ALL the extra goodies it'll have in it, like scissors, bandages for extra rope, potentially can store water in etc. Tent - not only great protection from the elements (bugs, storms etc.) it can also be pulled apart and used for so many different bits - fly, ropes, poles etc. Knife - for obvious reasons
Then I'm stuck between the pot and matches. I'm hopeful that I'd *eventually* be able to make fire without matches but I'm terrible at it and it'd take a lot of time and energy. Also, having a pot to boil water for drinking/cooking etc is not something that I know how to DIY. However, I feel not having fire is a bigger risk than not having a container, so I'd probably grab the matches.
