Hi everyone, I'm not sure if any of you know of the following Facebook group The "Take Care Of Yourself" Backpack Project but I think it deserves so much more recognition than it has. It's a relatively new group that helps supports homelessness in the ACT from uni students to those unfortunate to lose their long term jobs. No one chooses to be put in this position but any support from the community helps. They provide backpacks to those unfortunate to survive the harsh weather conditions without shelter, basic hygiene, and clothing. You can help by either donating money or by providing items for theirs packs or even just spread the word of the project. I'm not in anyway affiliated with this group and admin's you can remove it if you do not believe it is appropriate. I believe that it is appropriate for this group, as not all of us have a steady income or permanent residence. These people are in urban survival mode and a great urban bug out bag is something they desperately need to survive. You don't need to provide them with a full kit if they already have the basic essentials; for women a restock of sanitary pads and wet wipes would be appreciated and for the men a basic shaving kit for them would mean the world. A little goes a long way and with your knowledge on building bug out bags for an affordable price - just one, could save a life. This Facebook group is specifically for Canberra, Australia, but I wouldn't be discouraged. This group could inspire you to do something for your local community. Give a little.
