I'm wanting to check on the bacterial activity of various foods I'm fermenting, as well as look out for yeasts and moulds. For this I'd need a microscope with a magnification capacity of at least 400x (or so I've read).
Does anyone have any experience with such things they could share, and could anyone suggest where I could buy something decent? Google searches seem to bring up either hobby microscopes (with insufficient magnification), scientific specialist equipment (with a hefty price tag), or others with - IMHO - ridiculous claims about their magnification capacities.
Mrs Pete warned me I was becoming a food geek...
