Early Childhood Australia has denied reports a new program for kindergarten kids will involve toddlers “cross dressing” and said the program aims to combat domestic violence. A Start Early program has caused controversy amid reports it would delve into sexuality and gender issues, and comments from a program spokesperson in the Herald Sun describing children as "sexual beings." Early Child Australia this afternoon said the program would involve “dress-ups” but said there were “no plans to roll out programs in kindergartens or pre-schools about cross-dressing or sex education”. “We are not overtly teaching children to pick up a feather boa and put it on,” Early Childhood Australia spokeswoman Carolin Wenzel told ninemsn. Ms Wenzel denied program is about “sex education or gender identity” and was designed as a long-term violence prevention program. "Start Early is a free online program to help early childhood educators explore how everyday behaviours and attitudes shape young children’s relationships for life," CEO Sam Page said. "It’s about starting early to preventing domestic and family violence in the long term. “There are no plans to roll out programs in kindergartens or pre-schools about cross-dressing or sex education. It's about teaching children to respect each other." Early Childhood Australia spokeswoman Clare McHugh told the Herald Sun the program teaches children about respect and would have a “wide take-up” in Victoria. "Children are sexual beings and it’s a strong part of their identity, and it is linked to their values and respect," the Hearls Sun reports. "The underlying message is to value difference and be open to difference." Community Childcare Victoria confirmed parents would be consulted in the coming days.

"Children are sexual beings..." What the hell? Boy, does this make me angry. ...“We are not overtly teaching children to pick up a feather boa and put it on,” ... No, there will be nothing overt about it.

But that would mean they couldn't brainwash the kids in the ways they do.

The way I see it, school is to teach the 3 r's, parents are to instil a moral code.Yes because the parents in the last 15yrs have done a great job doing that. I vote bring back the cane and strap to school. My year was the last to go through living under fear of them and I have seen every year since progressively get worse and worse in the quality of the kids

Problem is, after dropping off their kids to kindy, half the parents then go to high school.
Yep, lets do away with education, and teach socialist ideals, as well as doing away with morals, respect and accountability.

Facts If you hit a child [yes even smacking, though it's not as profound], that child 'possibly' learns that if you don't agree violence is the answer. Studies exist from the 60s [and have been repeated many times] that demonstrate this simple coorelation. Of course not all children who are abused as such turn out to be violent, and the reason we see much lower levels of violence in this country has a lot to do with the reduction of the more extreme violence children were exposed to. The combination of that and the presence of the 'warrior' gene, which a small number of the population have [about 0.3% in White, 0.05% in Asian and 5% African] is 'far' more likely to trigger violent behavior. Having just the gene alone doesn't trigger this. Obviously the level of violence a child experience is a factor also. If we really want to stem domestic or other violence, about 90% of it is caused by violence done to children and the rest and in fact some of the worst violence we see in society is due to absenteeism [lack of love] from parents and or a combination. That is a lack of love causes self hatred in most and a few causes misplaced hatred to others/group etc. I strongly suspect that like education to adults, education to children will have very little effect, mostly because it completely ignores the cause. Nobody wants to talk about the abuse and neglect of children, because it doesn't get votes and is unpopular. Never the less, it's the causation of almost all social and emotional problems. Happy to explain further or show studies if called upon. =============== Dr. Peter Gray [Psychology professor] suggests that school is prison. I'm not particularly agreeable as to how kids are 'educated.' via coercion.

I don't know if this is a silly Idea, How about parents taking the reins back from the government and taking the responsibility to bring up child themselves. How about the government mind their own business and look after the affairs of Australia like they are supposed to and keep their noses out of peoples lives!
How about people get off their fat asses and be good parents and role model for their own children. Take responsibility for their own kids.
How about the yellow belled gutless government take responsibility for their own actions! And act like the public "SERVANTS" they are and not act like school kids with power!!!
Just my Idea!

The more this society 'progresses', the less I want to bring children into it.
