I live 30 mins west of Castlemaine - this is way too close for comfort! This is definitely something I'll factor in to my preparedness. I doubt a bomb of this magnitude would be used in Melbourne, but you never know. A terrorist attack on the CBD is something that's not too far from my mind.

30 Mins west of Castlemaine?
Well you just dropped that bomb directly on my place, so I can't say I would fare too well. Family is also in Geelong....so Can't say they would be too good down their either...

Oops, I bombed Ryan That's the largest USSR bomb made at 100mt. The Nagasaki bomb would only have taken out the CBD, Carlton, north and south Melbourne. Something this size or smaller would be more realistic imo.

Mmm....Well I spend most my time in Brunswick / Carlton, so I probably still wouldn't have fared well with the likes of Nagasaki or Hiroshima haha

I wouldn't worry about it being that kind of yield though, 0.75MT being the typical larger yield size. es.rice.edu/projects/Poli378/Nuclear/f04.stratg_invent.htmlTop 40 Targets, are you near one? www.aussurvivalist.com/nuclear/top40targets.htmPopulation Centers Obviously large population centers would be obvious targets, all of the major cities and probably secondary population centers like Geelong in Victoria. The main aim would be to stop the possibility of mounting any kind of retaliation, taking out infrastructure etc. My guess would be that Bendigo would be your biggest concern "With an urban population of 82,794, it is the fourth largest inland city in Australia and fourth most populous city in the state" and using the same utility you're in a pretty good spot from fallout from Melbourne [depends on wind direction though!] and from fallout and damage from Bendigo. I myself are sitting in a good fallout zone, warm enough I could cook my food with I think.

Not even close, 350k to Brisbane is the closest I think. Phew. How far are you from Longreach? The New 'JORN Radar System' has only just came on line.
And you have another couple of prime 'Targets' in around central Qld as well.

Don't know how far from Longreach maybe 6-700k so we've good there, even further from the Townsville base. I dunno about other places but there is the Bundy Rum distillery right here in town, I reckon that could be a primary target

I case you are not aware - here is a list of 'publicly' known bases in Qld. (Not sure if many of these have been in the relocation to T'vlle or not yet).
(Interestingly enough I see there are some public knowledge bases missing of the list below like, RAAF Base Scherger).
Queensland
Army Aviation Centre, Oakey: Army pilot and aircrew training activities.
Borneo Barracks, Cabarlah: Army’s 7 Signal Regiment.
Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera: The Army’s major command (deployable Joint Force HQ / HQ 1 Division), operational and reserve base in southeast Queensland.
HMAS Cairns, Cairns: Navy patrol boat base.
Kokoda Barracks, Canungra: Defence and Army training base.
Lavarack Barracks, Townsville: Army’s 3 Brigade and support, logistics and training units.
RAAF Base Amberley, Amberley: Air Force’s strike (F/A-18F Super Hornet), heavy airlift (C-17) and air-to-air refuelling (KC-30) components, with supporting units.
RAAF Base Townsville, Townsville City: The Army’s 5 Aviation Regiment and Air Force Combat Support units.

I don't think any of those are nearby, IIRC there is an Army training area near Hervey Bay, but it's hard to imaging anyone would nuke such a place.
