I've been revisiting videos for inspiration and bringing attention to potential mistakes or things I've missed in the last few years.
Something that struck me from the video, which is centered around a pandemic, is this quote
- Do you have that kind of water stored? I don't. - What about food? - Do you need to cook it and have you got enough to do that. 1kg of gas is 'about' 1 week worth of cooking, less if you're using a BBQ. Boiling water would use more. - What about hygiene, aka soap, means of washing, teeth? - Toilet? - Cleaning facilities/means for clothes? - What about pandemic protection, be it gloves, masks, disinfectant [pool shock/bleach]? - What would you do if a loved one contracted said disease? - How do you handle bodies? Can you get them in the ground? - How's the security at your place? - What do you do if mobs are going house to house? - How would you know if mobs are going house to house? - Morality goes out the door. People justify this with 'making' it moral or good to do bad things [its not]. Irrelevant to philosophical positions it's important to understand that at the very least others 'will' think this way. - Fuel from cars, resupply, do you have, can you get?

Great post as usual shinester. Some great points to take into consideration at the bottom. On water..I have quite a bit, mostly bottled, but probably no where near enough for 90 days (do we know what the minimum daily water intake per person is?) Another one that stood out, Pandemic protection. Nope for me on this one. Great post mate.

Don't forget to revisit american blackout
Personally, its one I don't focus on, resupply of water needs a little more work...
But 90 days should be possible for most of us, the question also adds security issues, other natural hazards (disasters, they don't stop when humanity stops) and other spanners that will ruin the day...
90 days is a very long time to be restricted to home also...
Other revisited thoughts is during black water waste management, extended care of injuries, anti septics...
Then add entertainment, this will be a major hazard for us... Idle minds...
Other thoughts since that was a mid 90s docco, what would be the outlook for today with the changes in society.... As people are more reliant on goverment bail out packages, and assistance, also with wide use of social media, would the danger be more reported, or warnings be given earlier?? Will government attempt to maintain control or will they bug out to their super bunker??
Lots if possible thoughts, with big and small picture problems with this event

... (do we know what the minimum daily water intake per person is?) ... I recorded our water use for years while living in the truck on the road....and the answer is 5 litres per person per day. (two adults, no kids, pets etc) That does not include washing of large bedding items, but does include sparrow baths, cooking, dish washing, home brew etc etc. In short everything except some laundry. So assuming we aren't too worried about clean doonas that's 450 liters per person for 90 days, easy for us, last I calculated we're good for 16 years, but we've used a lot lately, maybe 10 years As for staying literally inside for 90 days, that would be a struggle, but if I can venture a few meters outside no problem...actually, I think we might even have a good shot at 90 days even staying inside.

Yeah and since the best defense against something like a virus is to stay outside of 2m of everyone then as you're located you'd be fine.

We use LPG for the stove, BBQ, Pizza Oven and Hot water. So our main use is the stove, a 9kg bottle (not 8.5...LOL) last the two of us around 6wks and I drink a lot of tea. When mum and dad visited the gas lasted 4wks.
We have the water and food, no problem (Jinny would kill me before 90 days...LMAO)
For me looking at Pandemics and other scenarios that would have us inside for X amount of days, even with services like water, power , septic all working even 90 days would be a nite-mare, even with out kids of any age.(Yes we live in the bush now...)
I know most people don't have a BOL, but to me it makes sense to have some where to go. As Shinester said distance is the key, unless it's airborne, even then our masks and sanitary regimes come into play(if we have them...?)
