These little tins of goulash have fairly good chunks of meat in them! I use a couple with a pouch of curry sauce and some tinned veg like peas or potato! I usually drain the sauce out and then add the curry sauce instead! Serve with rice! They have these at woolies! Please post your favourite food prep! Attachments:

Stagg Chili Dynamite Hot. Just realise that it's not hot at all... a good few shakes of hot sauce does the trick.

My favorite food prep is the soups and various preserves we use every other day. This is the 'extra' cupboard for them.

Can't go wrong with baked beans. Can be eaten hot or cold, very cheap to buy, and on a cold morning camping served hot with a couple of sausages really warms you up. I always take a few cans with me on hunting trips

What you got in there shine? Just veggie or meat as well? Water bath or pressure can? That's various soups and bean mixes, caramelized onions, some fruit. I have the 'best' bean mix for mexican in there and it was one I thought I screwed up lol. I don't have a cheap enough source of meat to be worth doing my own canning, aka "juice is not worth the squeeze" for it. Wife is mostly a veggie and we use them as instant meals [soups/beans] which is why I use the Kmart 500ml drinking jars [$1.50 + separate lid] mostly as you can just stick them in the microwave for 2 mins, drop in some sour cream and boom, a meal with a handle. From another post, I showed how you could run a microwave with solar, 2mins is no major strain on storage There's also add-ons for meals such as bean mixes and larger portions, though once we go through them, I'll probably just stick to the 500mls as I've found the larger sizes too big for normal use. I do most of the cooking so it's also about time saving with 1hr of attention to prepare/stir/monitor, 2-3 hours of letting it cook [unattended] cooking giving me 9L of food, about 18 meals, great bang for buck in time. It's great having meals made to your own taste that you can just grab out like canned food without the food tasting like crap as it often does in canned food. Most of that is pressure canning, only the caramelized onion and fruit [down the bottom] is water bath. The pressure canner is one of my favorite prep items, for the convenience, usefulness in normal life and the taste of instant and easy meals, so much better than freezing!

To me the best tasting yet easy to carry food is rice + boulion
1 x 500ml bottle of rice and supplemented by 1.5L bottle with boulion, dehydrated beef, can feed 2 people 10 meals. If 2 of you carry one of each... You can literally survive a whole month and it'll taste good too.
but i digress

If 2 of you carry one of each... You can literally survive a whole month and it'll taste good too. but i digress I like it as a meal idea! I'm a little confused about being able to make 20 [2x10] meals out of it, though I guess you could make a soup and stretch it out, having 'something' to eat is a really good idea. The salts in the boulion would keep your body functioning, the vitamins might be lacking in some areas [C comes to mind]. I guess you could live on it if you were err... had enough 'on body prep', though you will be loosing a 'lot' of bodyfat and most likely some lean muscle mass whilst you're at it. This is for 'one' 500 ml rice [.43kg] = 2 cups = 2937kj x 2 = 5874kj 1500ml dehydrated beef = 6 cups = 775kj[185cal] x 6 = 4650kj Boulion cubes negligible, though lots of important salts and flavors. For two of the packs = 21048kj, 713kj/day or a total of about 2 days food for a guy on a normal diet. Daily 'average' metabolic rate.Males 1-3 5400kj 3-7 7200kj 7-11 9200kj 11-15 12200kj 15-18 12600kj 18-35 11600kj 35-55 10400kj [75kg, more for higher weights] 55+ 8800kj Females 1-3 5400kj 3-7 7200kj 7-11 8800kj 11-15 10400kj 15-18 9200kj 18-35 8400kj 35-55 7600kj 55+ 6400kj For a 40yo guy weighing 75kg not doing much, he will loose 8.3kg in 30 days with that diet. Aka it's starvation levels. Since most Australians have about 10kg of excess bodyfat on top of a months worth of the body eating itself, so it would probably be doable, a little risky too.

To make milo or to make a drink using milo powder?
For the latter: Milo to milk ratio should be about 1:1
