A quote from the article-
"There were 250 people for each National Guard officer… lots of people and few soldiers"
Thanks for sharing Rem, scary.

Yeah sure is! Hubby and I watched a youtube clip once that said that cats are the first animal people eat because they taste better than dogs apparently, and so when you see them start to go then things are really desperate! I have tried pigeon before its not to bad!

Dunno about the cats - the only ones I see are half-feral, skin and bones and don't look particularly appetising. Dogs on the other hand are usually pretty well fed, have a lot more meat and from experience taste alright.
I'm wondering if China is going to step in and help out the government in Venezuela in exchange for cheap oil and a return on a huge loan they gave that has not been repaid. Apparently Venezualan opposition figures have attended several low-key meetings in Beijing in recent months, to which the actual ruling government were not invited.

From the article: "And that is how all socialist utopias always end."
I am motivated to redouble my efforts in food production and storage, as I think this is also the way much of the Western World is going.

I've been looking over this trying to understand what people are doing with said situation as a means of understanding how a SHTF event might go down. Of course the fix in our society would most likely be quicker due to supply and demand driving prices, profits, incentives up creating more opportunity to restore supply, aka lesser [still significant] meddling by government. The fact that they have a blackmarket to supply certain goods suggest that some guy just can't sell them at the store he runs, even with highly inflated prices [supply and demand]. The market fixes issues in supply if given a chance to, always. So what we're seeing here is mostly the socialistic tied hands. Never the less, looking at how people act and what they're doing is telling to how people would act. Hunting and eating pets/birds etc is normal, even the rich can't get food, infants dying in hospitals. Dying Infants and No Medicine: Inside Venezuela’s Failing HospitalsThere's more stories, though I think this gives some insights to what people are going through. I'm going to spend some more time understanding it and it's quite similar to other stories I've seen in other locations.

pete, always remember opsec
Its worse for me coz I'm in a city and an apartment at that. OPSEC is really tough for me, hence, the need to stock up on aluminium foil to black out the windows when SHTF

yeah. so growing food has to be tactical too. Planning throughs where I can plan food. My kitchen gets a good 10 to 12 hours of sunlight with the windows open and people can't really see in. I can grow probably enough for some lime, chili, herbs, veges. Not alot but some.
Next is tactical growing below my block. To plant the food crops with others so that they'll look like weed. last thing u need is a mob of 30 people at your front door knocking it down.

I'm actually really interested in edible weeds. They blend in, they're often highly nutritious, and they grow like, well, weeds.

All those people suffer because of the greed of a few. This is why, in the mean time, we must stand against more power to govt. The power to be self reliant must remain the main focus people.
