i know we have talked about food etc, but what about the other end, where it comes out? do you use/store modern cloth nappies? stockpile disposables? or do something they do in many of the poorer parts of the world, EC training (elimination communication), where your child learns almost from birth go go (with assistance) in the toilet/on the ground etc? just thought it would be worth talking about

My youngest is 4, 5 in June. Hopefully by the time SHTF she will be well past nappies, bottles etc. (nappies almost, bottles...well, we are working on that one lol)
Im sure there are many more uses for cloth nappies though, which would make at least a few in the preps useful?

well, as they last fairly well for a few years of use, and are highly absorbant, one could even stash them in case an unplanned little bundle comes along, or for when your kids have kids of their own down the track, or if you are in a community, its highly likely there will be babies either from the get go, or after a year or two... and the bamboo or hemp fibre inserts (the absorbant bit) make amazing travel towels or dressings for wounds, etc...

Stockpiled Nappies, disposable and Cloth! Definitely a myriad of uses for cloth nappies. Wayno is your Girl still in Nappies or did I misunderstand that?
I have an 18 month old Girl and another Girl waiting to hatch in the next 2 weeks. Got the 18 month old on potty already as I want her in undies ASAP. She can teach the next one to! LoL My 12 yr old son was in nappies till he was two then he just would'nt wear them at all and had to be on the big toilet immediately or he would crack it.

Absolutely Amazing! I am that sold on this it's not funny. Thankyou for that. I'm going to do this. If anyone is interested I will keep a running Journal of my own and the daughters progress.
Would save a hell of a lot of money for sure and just be pretty amazing at the same time.

lol, just glad i could help mate for those first couple of months, modern cloth might help you save too (during the association phase)but you have to find newborn nappies, many companies smalls only fit from like 3-4 months and up. also, if your wife plans on breastfeeding, im happy to help, with different products to boost supply, and just support for those times when its not so easy, and little tricks i worked out on the way

Our 22mo has just suddenly decided she wants to use the potty and is in knickers most of the time now. I use cloth for when we are out and about though, because she is too distracted to notice she needs to pee. She's also in nappies for sleep times, because she's only managed one nap where she made it to the potty in time. I use 'sposies for nights but cloth the rest of the time. I prefer MCNs (modern cloth nappies) over the old style terry towelling squares for actual nappies, but I have a bunch of the squares to use as spew rags etc. (and I know how to fold them to use as nappies in a pinch). Wolfstar do you have a fave style of nappy? At the moment I'm into Itti Bitti tuttos because I can use the same nappies for our toddler and our baby because they are so customisable. SO expensive though so I just stalk the sales and the preloved MCN groups. Whylie I'd love to hear how you go with the EC as well, I looked into it when our first was little but was super honest with myself and realised I was probably not organised enough to follow through with it properly

Sorry this must have been when I was offline for a bit! For a favorite style, I'm pretty partial to pocket and ai2's, but have developed a pattern I'm hoping prep police will agree to pay for the patent on! It's kind of the best of a few brands in one I know minky is hardly ideal for post shtf but I love a fluffy bum like nothing else XD when I get this patent business all sorted out, I can't wait to show you what I've developed XD
