Tomorrow when the war began... amazing what a group of kids can do Ah I loved this book series! The movie was good too and I think there's a tv series on abc now too |

Ya know it's fiction right haha Nobody wants to read or see the realistic version, you know, the one where they get flanked on their first contact, the boys are tortured or killed outright, the girls are raped repeatedly then bayonetted to death. yeah I kinda think that version wont sell so well........... just a hunch |

This thread definitely a blast from the post. Every empire fails is the underscript of the movie... That has been one of my mantras... Hollywood sometimes get things right...... I have all the tomorrow books as mp3's, 10's of hours of them, and still find new things every time I listen.
As I've mentioned before, the 1970's "Survivors' series on TV was the thing that kicked off our prepping. Seeing the mans car stop in the middle of nowhere and the nuke in the distance, caused me to build up a EMP proof bug out vehicle. Added to meeting a prophetess one day who told us all to get out of the city's and onto our own land as its all falling apart, also prompted action.
And that was over 40 + years ago.

It’s set in the us.
Bit nuts that main characters aren’t all toting firearms. Given the “bad guys” all are AND acting like Pol Pots death squads.
What the motive is for death squad mentality is beyond me. Folks will have better things to do post apocalypse than hunt runts.

Not a movie, but the Fallout series was really enjoyable. I haven't played the games either, so it shows the storyline stands up to being good just for what it is rather than nostalgic memories of a video game. It's not realistic in any way but it did do a pretty good job of showing what the general population is likely to be like in a post-war civilisation imo.
