With the current NFA under review, things are going to become really hard for us law abiding firearm owners.
Here is a snippet from another forum from someone with some inside view on the shitstorm that's heading out way.
So since so many shooters DIDN'T vote for firearms friendly parties at the last federal election, we have very limited sway in the final decisions.
So right now we need to spread the word to every shooter we know to email, write and visit our state and federal MP's at their local offices and let them know all this shit is unjustified and will not stop illegal firearms from coming through the porus borders and backyard workshops and stolen from government agencies including police and military.
The end is nigh.

Ok. I'm still waiting for some confirmation on a few matters but here is the general upshot.
It appears that there are 2 activities occurring in the background.
I'm not sure if they are part of the same plan or seperate.
Firstly the NFA review - this is the main technical and national revisitation of existing legislation and regs as applied to states.
Second is the discussions around a new set of firearm laws that creat a model not to dissimilar to the UK. As I said. I'm not sure yet if the two are linked or on two seperate timelines.
Effect of the new laws.
First of all this info is taken from detailed notes based on State inputs for NFA changes and improvements. So it's accurate but not the final plan. As a matter of fact the new laws are a few “Scenario based options”. Based on acceptance of some states.
There is over 600 pages to the material. Impossible to keep to a brief list but here is my take on the most impacting to sport shooters over time.
One option. Reclassify all high capacity, rapid fire and military centerfire calibre rifles with detachable magazines to new classification group. This means if you have a 308 with 10 shot mag this option changes it from B to another. Rapid fire actions such as Adler etc. move to new category.
This does not mean they are banned, you just need to meet new classification criteria to keep.
Option two. Keep same classification but introduce new assessment criteria for acquiring each new firearm. PTA will be replaced with FJA (Firearm Justification Approval) This will mean you need to have an authority sign off on your genuine reason for acquiring and keeping it (ongoing Justification needed).
Magazines and accessories. Every DBM will need to be applied for (like a moderator) with justification approval for each. This will include collapsible stocks and fore grips.
Ammunition. You will need to apply for a ammo purchase permit. That will have a max quantity to buy before a new one needs to issued. It also works this way for reloading components.
Storage. This will change to be in alignment with Justification approval. You will only be allowed to hold firearms consistent with the manner in which the use will service. Storage will be commercial and non-commercial. Non commercial will require security alarm and monitoring.
Will send more once I have confirmation . But these are the headlines.
The takeaway point is strict enforcement of genuine reason with authority for each firearm.
Bad stuff. Let's hope it's not all adopted.
