Quote from the article - "This doesn't mean residents of Naples should be heading for cover." Yep, so most people will read this, then get back to their coffee and not have another thought about it again until magma is raining down on them. Then again, the fallout from a volcano of this size erupting would surely slow down global warming?

Global warming's 'probably' a myth, there's publication that's currently being peer reviewed by 3 universities that conclusively proves they got the maths wrong of the whole thing, we'll see in the new year. Besides, volcano's might cool things down a bit too much for a bit. [mini-ice ages]
In terms of living next to a dormant volcano, or severe earthquake zone I really don't understand why posses people to do so. Farmers 'maybe' because of the very fertile soil, I can understand, residents? Silly.

Well, Mount Gambier in SA, the crater feeds the area with water - and, it's not dormant!!!!
I found that out - and glad I moved when I did.

No, there is an active evacuation plan in place with all emergency services. I was a bit shocked when they told me it was dormant, but active ( I'm assuming that this is deep below the crater - and there are a few other craters all around that area - 2 within the city limits ).
