Keiths cage trap motivated me to show everyone a different trigger system used with the cage trap called the promontory peg. Dont pay to much attention to the trap, it's a dogs breakfast. The trigger system is different as the bait or seed is scattered inside the cord triangle the animal or bird will trip the line on either side of the peg system to access the bait and collapse the trap. For teaching purposes the cord is white so you can see the set up. The peg is made by making a cut halfway into the wood then turning it over and making a cut a few finger widths apart on the opposite side. Place your finger between the two cuts and bend. The wood will snap into two seperate pieces that can now be trimmed for easier displacement. The trip wire is weighted down with one long stick placed under and at the back of the cage. TIP: ROUND the edges off the trigger, NOT pointed or square. Otherwise the trigger points will drop onto one another and snag. Nice work Keith, I have seen these before on youtube, I remember when I first saw them I thought you made that look to easy, I just watched both of them and thought again you made that look to easy. I have tried this in the back yard and had a hard time getting it to balance, I just need more practice.
Hey Res-Q I have also seen the trigger system you have shown but I have not tried it as of yet, but because you showed it I will have to give it ago, thanks
